Getting approved from affiliate programs for a product search engine

I'd like to create kind of a product search engine in an easy way:
WordPress - some affiliate plugin and import data from awin / tradedoubler etc.
It seems like, most/all shops (the parties that provide their content to me and pay me for affiliate traffic) would need to approve of my website first.
Did anybody try sth similar?
What is the success rate there?
Can I just add hundreds of shops with thousands/millions of products?
(The search engine would focus on one specific industry like gardening)
