Research and Development Techniques

Hello,

I'm struggling to make a profit with dropshipping via Oberlo/Shopify and FB ads. Does anyone have a system or technique they use to A. Discover the right audience B. Test variations and improvements of the landing/product page? I've spent $500+ on ads testing 20+ audiences. I've had 9 sales total. My mentor told me I have a good ctr for ads but the product page isn't converting well enough. We made some changes and so far they haven't worked. It's hard to decide what exactly I should be changing and how far I should take this before deciding the product isn't working and to change to something else. What do you do to succeed and "figure it out" when it comes to this?

You create a buyers persona or two.
Google it, plenty of sites have good, detailed info on it.

But if they click on the ads but do not buy, there is a disconnwct between ads and landing page.

What do the ads promise? What does the landing page? What does the product deliver?

Thank you. I've developed a couple personas already but forgot/strayed from them when different audiences started working on my ads. I think I will go back, reevaluate, and come up with a comprehensive persona that can give me insight into what my buyers truly want.

What's the thinking behind the description in the sidebar and the main content area blank?

I don't believe I've ever seen that before and makes no sense to me.

Is it a mobile optimization thing?

What I'm seeing on mobile is everything filling the screen or centered so maybe there is a coding or browser issue.

If you have a good CTR on ads, that can mean 2 things -

    1. Your ads promise one thing, your landing page promises another. They go away.
    2. Your landing page is really bad.

Do you have a cart system on your landing page ? Are people adding product to cart or dropping off before itself ? Is your messaging consistent with the ads you are running ? Are these drop off rates different for different audience segments or similar for all ?

Apart from this, more numbers. How many visitors, what was the CTR on which audience. On the audience segment that worked best, what was the conversion rate ? What was the conversion rate on the worst performing audience ? Are you sure you didn't have a winning audience which you should be scaling and shutting down the others ?

Many questions, and a lot more testing with small budgets can get you the answers you are looking for.
