Feedback from potential affiliates

Some may say I have done things backwards....but I've written a 220-page ebook, edited it, and packaged it up neatly into a PDF with a pretty cover page. Now that I've sunk hundreds of hours into it, I I want to make a couple of bucks out of my efforts.....which means I'm going need to find some affiliates to promote it, and I also need to make sure it's priced correctly.

I know I should have probably done this research before I even started, but to be honest it was a passion project that escalated so I never really saw the need to!

Any suggestions where I turn to get some constructive feedback from successful affiliate marketers, and maybe even establish some affiliate relationships?

    Hello,

You made a very big job, 220 pages is a lot and if the content of ebook consist of high-quality material, you could make some nice money.

Maybe you should start building a list?
Why not give this ebook for free to people for the email address, so this way you would build a list, people will read your high-quality ebook and they will love you. Build a list, create a good relationship and sell affiliate products in your niche.

That's a good idea! Maybe I could just give away the first chapter (as well as my blueprint, which is a cool 5 page summary of the whole book) so that I can still sell the ebook as well. Thanks very much for the thought-starter

Yes, giving away the first chapter, to build an email list, is a great idea.

If you want to list it on Amazon Kindle, you can list it for 99 cents (the minimum you can list for, unless you use Select, which is exclusive for 90 days), with a downloadable bonus to capture email addresses.

Promote the free give-away on relevant social-media channels (FB Groups etc.), and there are plenty of FB Groups for authors where you can list a free or cheap ebook and get some interest, plus other platforms for giving away free ebooks (ask on the author FB groups).

Hope you get good results with your ebook!

    Chris

    • Thanks Chris....you don't happen to know the names of any Facebook Groups for this sort of activity do you? I joined one recently (I think it was the 'Work from home' affiliate marketing etc one) and it's a lot spammier than I'd hoped!

If you want affiliates to promote (affiliates who can actually make sales) you will need a proven track record of conversion, EPC, and refund rates.

Without this data, no serious affiliate will touch an untested product.

You have a rough road ahead of you... build a list they say... sell your book they say... That's all fine and good but that's really not how it works... I say.

From the perspective of joe internet user... Who are you? WHY should I buy your book and believe the words contained inside? WHAT have you GIVEN to show you are an authority on whatever subject you are covering?

Right now you are functioning with the idea of what's in it for me... I did all this work.. now I want to get paid... BUT you haven't done the work to get there. THIS is why most marketers fail.

IF you are going to build a list and sell your book, giving the first chapter away Is a bad idea. YOU - the author of the material should be able to create a lead magnet that parallels the book content and ads value. Value = trust, and from there you can sell the book.

But lets go a step further because you are looking at the micro of today selling your book and not the Macro of tomorrow then what? IE You build a list to sell the book then what? Sell crap because you now have a list and the money is in the list they say? The money is in the list if you have thought this through past today and moved beyond whats in it for me.

So what do I suggest you ask? I would do whatever formatting is needed to get the book on Amazon. Having your book listed on Amazon creates an amount of Authority. Its that added step that places you as an Author and Authority on whatever subject above and beyond all of the other crack heads trying to sell info products in your market space.

I would create a branded website ( preferably your name .com ) and start developing content that you start sharing and developing community around the Niche that your book falls under... creating Authority, and Trust with like minded people. All the while you can have links to your book that's on Amazon.

I would start working on Book #2 as in Yesterday... I would start thinking about worksheets or whatever else could be of use in relation to your first book. Is there the possibility that a simple app of some kind could be created to companion the book?

Do you see how this is transitioning from what's in it for me, to how can I help the people that buy my book better understand practice and succeed with the books information?

I suggest stepping back... looking at what you created and visualizing and understanding what step 2 and 3 and 4 are down the road ( The Macro View ) of this will be. Start implementing VALUE and creating a list of people that are interested in what you have to SAY vs what you have to sell.

    Hope that Helps!
