Purpose of tracking tools

It's been 5 months that I'm doing affiliate marketing but I still cant get fully the purpose of tracking tools (bemob,voluum..), since the data that I'm getting from these tools I can get it directly from the advertising platform.

For instance bing ads gives insights about location, devices, demographics, keywords conversion(tracking tool can't give you that) etc etc.., and they are the same data I find in bemob, then why bother myself setting the tracking.

So I don't know if I'm mistaken or there's another use cases of tracking tools.

  • If you use for example a squeeze page or landing page to capture leads, to presell the visitors, you want to know what type of traffic clicking your page, the conversion rate and so on.

  • The data you can get from tracking tools gives you much more information then what you can get from affiliate networks of traffic sources. This data will then allow you to better optimize campaigns and make more money.

    • Highly recommend tracking tools. Much better than Affiliate Networks in my opinion.
  • You don't want to depend on the advertising platform's tracking only and you want to make sure you diversify your traffic by using different advertising platforms if you aren't doing so. You can track your results from different platforms all in one place with these tracking tools.
  • The affiliate network's tracking stats will be very generic and not that useful. You need tracking tools that offer deeper insights for better optimization and higher conversions.
