Should I try to earn backlinks or buy them?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this game. I would like to create a blog and grow it in a fast way, get a lot of traffic, a high ranking on search engines and so on.

I have read a lot of articles about backlinks and made a little research on SemRush for a few competitor websites in my niche, but I can't seem to understand how they are getting so many backlinks in a short period of time.

I have also seen that there is a possibility to buy backlinks. However, everyone says "don't buy backlinks", but they seem to be doing so. The numbers don't add up, it's impossible to get tons of backlinks through the classic manual process (there is no other way, unfortunately).

I would like to know what your opinion is about buying backlinks and what type of links should one buy without affecting the blog.

Thanks.

What matters is the quality of the back-links, link velocity, anchor-text etc.

If the Google algorithm spots that you are building back-links "artificially", they will lower your ranking.

For example, if you've suddenly got 200 back-links when your site has only had 100 visitors, then obviously something is wrong!

Your back-links need to be from sites with Domain Authority over 20, and from sites on topics relevant to yours. Never build any back-links from low DA sites, or from irrelevant topics.

You can research the link velocity of successful sites similar to yours, and make sure your link velocity (the rate at which new back-links are built) is about the same.

Although social-media back-links (and social signals, i.e. Likes, Shares etc.) do not count for ranking, they are important to show that people like your content.

For the first year of a new site, your anchor-text should be generic things like "click here" or "read more", or variations on your domain name. Do NOT use your main keywords at all for anchor-text in the first year, and only very occasionally after that.

So, how you actually obtain your back-links doesn't matter so much as their quality, in terms of the things I mention above.

    Hope that helps !

    Chris

    Hey,

To begin with, I'd recommend never buying backlinks or taking part in any technique that involves breaking Google's guidelines for that matter. As Chris mentioned, it is the quality of links that matter, not the number itself.

I assume the reason for why your competitors gained a lot of backlinks is because they posted high quality content. If your blogs are valuable to other people, chances are, they will start sharing it on their own blogs and sites as well. A lot of bloggers are more than happy to share something useful they found on another blog.

And another thing - SEO takes time. There really is no quick method that'll get you to page 1 of Google. Focus on creating quality content and getting backlinks from quality sites and you'll be surprised at how much they'll help your rankings.

    Best of luck!

    -Edwin

Buying backlinks is a Black Hat SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) technique -- a way of cheating or misleading Google and other search engines so that your website is ranked higher than it deserves to. If you buy backlinks directly, you're not doing off-page SEO right. If you pay for a service which helps you to generate exposure, awareness of your brand, and backlinks, that's a little different.

The idea that you can buy quality backlinks is also a popular one, but a backlink which is paid for directly has little to no quality in eyes of most search engines.

I've been doing Offsite SEO , and organic backlinks are really tedious but it's worthy, buying backlinks will destroy what you're trying to build.Paid backlinks will only last for a bit until google notices what you did.

This is quite a task to get decent backlinks for a blog. .. the task is much easier, if you have a business website.

The simpliest are - social media link, but most will not consider these as backlinks.

I would say: invest into best infographics possible > after published, create a press release and submit it to all possible pr services.

    best of success!

  • As someone who has been an SEO copywriter for several years, I would never recommend that you buy backlinks, nor take part in any link-building schemes. First, if Google picks up on what you are doing, your site will earn a penalty and your rankings will suffer. Secondly, Google focuses on the quality of backlinks to your site, not the quantity. The best way to attract quality backlinks is by consistently publishing quality content. In short, I recommend that you focus more on developing quality content and worry less about getting backlinks right now. If high-quality site owners recognize the strength of your content, then you will start earning quality backlinks from them!

My opinion is buying links is dead, because the quality has not been there for many years unless you are paying big bucks to a private PBN service. But I have thought it is rather dishonest and bound to have problems down the road when you are putting all your eggs in the basket of a PBN provider and all their risk.

To all of you who argue against buying backlinks, why do you assume crappy backlinks?

What if buying backlinks means I pay to place an article and the link is inside my article? And the article is a good one and the site I am buying sold no backlinks besides mine?

Why do you think buying backlinks must mean going to Fiverr and buying 10000 of them?

By the way, buying crappy backlinks en mass does not get you to lose rank; it just does not improve it, if the links are very bad, or only a little, if they are bad but not that bad.

I know this because Google said so and because I tested. Yes, I bought good and bad backlinks.

6 good backlinks got me to #4 in no time flat. Some 600 tier one bad but not very bad backlinks, backed by 60000 tier 2, got me to #23.

Keywords were in different niches but similar difficulty.

...because only crappy backlinks are for sale. High authority sites 99% are not going to sell links (or articles), you can't get around hard work like drafting a quality guest post and pitching them, or doing public relations sometimes.

Unless you find some corrupt journalists, which do exist.

Anyway backlinks continue to become less and less part of Google algorithm...

          Not true.

Give me $25000/month, and I'll give you a backlink from the homepage of one of my sites.

Yours will be the only sold backlink. The site is over 10 years old, ranks on page 1 for competitive keywords, and gets me clients.

If I put your link on my site, I stand to lose clients. I make $3-4k per sale, so $25k a month seems reasonable to me.

    Build them.

There are 100's of high-quality social network sites where you can 1) get links for free; 2) build audience.

This way you control quality and content of your links. Should be more than enough to break to 1 page for some juicy long tails and start getting people.

If you are new to this game, maybe best would be to learn some basic info about SEO and backlinking, how it works, what type of links are best nowadays, what links to avoid, what mistakes people are doing while building or buying the links. After you are familiar with SEO, you can try to buy some links, I have seen some very good offers where you getting not even high-quality link building, but a lot of help and knowledge from the seller.

Keep in mind, that SEO alone won't make you organic traffic and good rankings in a search engines, you also need to do proper keyword research and publish high-quality content/articles bases on that keywords.

I think you should earn backlinks instead of buying them. Because the traffic to your website is directly related to the quality of the backlinks to your website. You should keep checking the Google rankings. When Google crawls the web, it particularly looks for your website's backlinks, to check how and in what way the other websites are connected to you. Quality backlinks are hard to get, but there are many smart ways to earn and build backlinks such as getting backlinks through infographics, guest blogging, and many more.

Hi, does anyone know if offering blogs affiliate partnership is considered link buying?

I plan to find bloggers within my niche and offer them an affiliate program. If they agree, they will make an article and put the affiliate links on their site. This will offcourse be an affiliate 'NO-FOLLOW' link.
