The lead magnet on my site is just a simple barebones PDF. Nothing fancy, just a simple how-to guide in an ebook form. I think the overwhelming majority of lead magnets I've downloaded are just simple PDF's.

Assuming you are familiar with what it is you are selling... a piece of content or a form or a cheat sheet that runs in parallel to what it is you are offering. If you are offering a Keto Diet as an example a Keto Diet "What can I eat" type of thing would be a good lead magnet.

The idea is that the Lead Magnet give value in relation to the thing you are selling.

    Hope that Helps!

PDF's work great - alot of people still like to read instead of watching a video. Audios work well too. Just depends on what you want to teach people. One of the best things I've learned over the years is to really work on testing your landing page. Yes, of course you want to give good info, but you also want to maximize every click you get to your landing page.

It makes a HUGE difference if your page converts at 50% instead of 30%.

just off 100 visits, that's 20 more subscribers PER DAY... after 1 month, that's an extra 600 people on your email list (if you can get it to convert 50 out of 100 visitors that is)

There's alot more you can do - build a funnel would be my top suggestion.

Landing page - goes to bridge page (thank them for subscribing)
Bridge page - lets them know their free gift is on the way, and check their email
Bridge page - tells them about an offer similar to what they just opted in for more info on and redirects them to an offer - that you are an affiliate for

Follow up emails - ask them that they got their free info from you
    Do they have any questions
next email - did they see this offer that is great - don't sell, recommend
next email - free tips/tricks in the business
next email - send them another PDF that you created with important info on "your niche"

you can upload tens of hundreds of emails if you want - or just do a newsletter when you feel appropriate and send an email to your entire list

    hope that helps

    cheers

A PDF works well as long as you provide lots of value in that PDF. That PDF is going to be your first impression. So even though you don't want to give everything away in it, you want to make sure it makes the person feel that if your free product is that good, how much better will it be to upgrade or get something premium from you.

The first thing you have to think about before you want to make your sales funnel is about defining your avatar. If you know who your avatar is, you will be able to create targeted content to generate value for the person you want to attract to your funnel. That way your content will be much better. Create your Avatar.

You need something that can be consumed quickly by your prospect.

Most people have the attention span of a goldfish.

So yes, cheat sheets and check lists work great.

I like doing short videos around 5 minutes that solves a specific problem.

Give your most powerful tip right there.

If you use straight up benefits combined with curiosity you'll get a lot more opt-ins.

To make your work more easier, you can use free report from PLR and inject with your story or personality. I think story and combine with checklists will be more powerful and comfortable to explore by your subscribers.

People like step-by-step how to instructions so a cheatsheet
could really work for you. Just make sure you provide plenty
of high quality educational information that they can put to use
or benefit from right away. If you are promoting a weight loss
program, for example, you could give them some recipes for
low-calorie snacks or meals that they could use immediately.

I personally don't like the idea of using a simple pdf as a lead magnet..that's what so many people are doing and it seems like the value of these also decrease over time

atleast thats my impression that I would not opt into someones list anymore for a pdf..but maybe because I have seen it all.

therefore my way of doing it would be to overdeliver, give people something for free which others would normally sell for lets say $15.

this way you create something special and great, something unique, like a whole video course and they will love you for just giving it to them.

of course you also need to lead them at the end to your product which you are offering them to get more of it.

Some people sell pdf's for a lot more than 15.

But you are right about giving away real value.

Also about, in general, pdfs don't work as well as they used to.
