New to IM! Where to start?

Working on a site to try to start selling graphic design services. I'm kind of lost on how to get people to my site though. I heard people talking about posting locally on Craigslist but not really a lot of action on craigslist where I'm from. Any Help at all would be appreciated Thanks!

Have you signed u with various freelance sites? Have you bid on gigs posted on freelance sites? Have you places paid ads - have you created a portfolio?

You can advertise your deisgn service in the "for hire" section here for $20 - doesn't get much cheater . For $5 signature (or $60/hr for an image sig) you can advertise your site in your 'signature' on this forum.

Your question is so broad no one can give you great answers. Learn to use the search function to find threads here about promoting your site - freelancing - etc.

Due to the current pandemic I will no longer be shaking hands or giving hugs. You may wave, bow to me or give me the finger...your choice.

Absolutely I get that, I'm not trying to get over the hard work I just want a practical method. I was learning from this one course that was talking about setting up an RSS read but from the looks of it (maybe I'm wrong here) it's not possible anymore because there is no google reader. Then also I tried some extensions but no luck with connecting them to craigslist. I'm willing to do the stuff, it just seems like I am getting misinformed about the process.

One thing I did as a freelancer was to post ads in the major US cities on Craigslist. I would also answer ads for gigs in the major US cities. Ended up getting quite a few clients that way. Facebook groups is another good place for getting eyeballs on your site.

I'm not that familiar with craigslist but you can also go to other places there instead of your own location and find more popular ones

    Hello,

I think you shouldn't concentrate on your site and how to get traffic to your website yet.
There are plenty of places where you could advertise your graphic design service such as fiverr, WF forum, other forum marketplaces, freelancer, upwork.

Just register at these sites, write and create a sales page for forum marketplaces, describe your service, put pricing, and don't forget to have a page to your portofolio.

it's not possible anymore because there is no google reader.
There are many alternatives. Just Google RSS feed.

  • Hi,

Google to relevant websites of your niche and get your service and portfolio out there. In your area of business, I strongly feel you need to showcase your work or portfolio and at the right place.

You may want to consider Behance (owns by Adobe), Toptal, Dribble, Fiverr (but Fiverr does not seem to have very positive reputation these days) to publicize your service.

I hope the above suggestion helps.

You can post your ad on the craigslist page of other cities. Most graphic designers work remotely. Anyone can order their services on their website.

Here is something you need to focus on as you start developing avenues of traffic for your service. when you have an Instagram account you need to ensure your site URL is in your profile. When you post on Pinterest, you need to ensure your site URL is in your profile.

When you post on Warrior Forum and tell the world HEY I'm a graphic artist... you might want to include your site URL in your user profile - just saying

    Hope that Helps!
