Can I rank for these keywords?
Some of the properties of what I've found:
- There's a set of 150 keywords all in the same industry
- Monthly search volume is 1k-65k, average 15k. (happy face)
- Moz difficulty ranking is 37-50, average 44. (sad face)
- Exact-match domain-names are available for nearly all of them. (happy face)
According to What is a Good Keyword Difficulty Score?: "if your site is brand new or has few positive ranking signals, you may find that even lower difficulty keywords (those in the 20s or 30s) are pretty tough"
Is it realistic for a one-man (to three-man) operation to rank for something with such a high difficulty? I'd need to have some edge.
One thing that could be an edge is the exact-match domain-names, but I understand they're not as important to ranking as they were when I was in the game years ago. Are they still at all important?
Another thing that could be an edge is targeting the network of keywords, all of them enforcing each other with ranking signals. If I registered all 150 domain names (I can afford to), and pointed them to each other.... I'm guessing that's a trick that Google is wise to and frowns upon? Could I do it from different hosts? Has anyone here had success with that?
Maybe there's some other edge I could have that I'm not seeing?
If domain-names are totally irrelevant now, should I register one domain, and target all 150 keywords with pages within it? Would this be better than multiple small domains?
Thanks warriors.
