I have been a member since 2013 however I have been dormant dong all kinds of stuff. I am back doing some marketing things and plan on utilizing this area once gain. I appreciate any help. My current project is with a Direct Sales company that sells CBD oil Products. I am looking at tips to assist in gaining team members and sales of the product. We know that CBD marketing is more complicated due to restrictions by most platforms. I would love any guidance on promoting this type of business, from other experience.

    Hello!

Is it an MLM? If so I would get as many people on monthly
autoships as possible, and automate your recruiting with
online systems. That's the best way to build your downline
    these days.

    There's something about this I don't understand.

How do people get involved with things they don't know what to do about?

How do you get talked into these things?

Really. I'm not saying this to be mean. I will give you advice in a moment. But what are you doing with something you don't know about? Is it the magic draw of easy money from CBD? Were you sold the dream?

    I just don't get it.

Anyway, this isn't the first time this question has been asked on this forum: nor is it the first time I've responded to it.

Yes, there are compliance restrictions on how you can advertise about this topic.

So you don't talk about it.

Come at it sideways. Do the advertising for symptoms of problems CBD fixes, not the CBD itself. No need to mention CBD at all. Get them off FB and into your opt in form. Now they're in your autoresponder series. There you can talk about whatever you like.

If you're looking for distributors to support you, there are two obvious options:

1 - go for people who already sell CBD, and are upset with their current or recent past source of supply

2 - find people who have already bought into a similar distribution system, just for a different and perhaps complimentary product, and ask if they want to jump laterally or expand their offering.

In my sales training I talk about The Danger of the Two Sales.

The first danger is the "Is this even a good idea? Should we be doing this at all?" sale.

The second danger is the "Is YOUR solution the best way to solve my problem?" sale.

The problem with 99.9% of you is that you're trying to jump to the second sale without having made the first.

Thus my recommendation that you filter for people who ALREADY BELIEVE this type of arrangement is a good idea, and are likely familiar with it.

Then I would draw them over with an offer of * something different *. Even if that's simply "We're a different company than your current supplier, and we'll treat you right because we know how it feels to be treated in a lousy way, like you don't even matter". Doesn't have to be about the CBD...in fact, I'd make it NOT about the CBD.

A few months ago a friend shared a story about an oil change place. His dealership gives the oil changes for free with the car sale. But their waiting room is a mancave: TV, video games, nice chairs. Contrast with the crappy line-of-chairs-hooked-together-against-the-wall setup of other oil change chain shops. Where would you rather go? The USP has nothing to do with the oil, how the oil change is carried out, what happens to the car: it's all about the human experience while waiting, and making that as pleasant as possible. The men WANT to go there.

What can you do to make your CBD distribution experience like that for people who already want to be involved?

How you find those people...they could be online in FB groups, they could be in forums, they could be reading the newspaper and see a small ad for an in-person meetup (gotta wait until Covid's over to do that one, of course). No one is going to give you a silver bullet of "Here's where these people are!" You're going to have to find them yourself. On the other hand, that's a barrier to entry because how many other people are going to put in the effort? Not many.

If I were you, though, I would go into a field where I had some idea of how to proceed. Trying to figure out things from scratch is really, really tough. Most people can't do it. Just being honest.

      Knowledge Bombs!

That was pretty damn awesome thanks.

I think we all get that friend that is fired up on something and we still want to give them the best possible paths both to do and to avoid.

Really gaining team members will be based on What's in it for them. Why that company/products and not the next one.

But one good path to take would be to examine all the companies associated with CBD and examine what they are doing and where their traffic is coming from and how they are promoting.

    - True you can't run "paid ads" mentioning CBD on Google, Bing, YouTube & Facebook but you can run generic ads. Hopefully your company has generic landing page sites to use or you will need to create your own. Bing will be the least hassle for running bizop ads.

    - Yes - you can post CBD ads in the multitude of Facebook ad groups that target MLMers / home biz seekers as well but it really is rather time-consuming... everyone else is posting their ads well (I admin one of those groups). Occasionally you can get a sign-up though. You can indeed create posts on your own social media pages as well. Plus build relationships in targeted or even non-targeted groups... connect to new people. That doesn't mean pitch them in their message box the first thing you do. How you portray yourself on social media is your billboard so do you want to be known as a spammer or a normal person with a positive attitude talking about your successes and those of others on occasion or positive product results. For me on Twitter - I "do" post a promo tweet about twice a day mixed in other entrepreneur/self improvement articles or quote tweets.

I'm going to copy/paste a portion of an email I send new affiliates who join with me to save me some time -

    ------------
Facebook advertising groups - there are countless ad groups you can promote your link or make a post where people can ask for more info. Search for groups with keywords like entrepreneur, work from home, home business, direct sales, direct selling, mlm, network marketing, etc... . I may do a post in 13 such groups once a week & usually nothing happens but sometimes I do get leads. I even founded/admin such a group myself (time-consuming removing fake profile scammers/rule-breakers). This isn't the most effective route but indeed I have generated leads.

Creating a Facebook group to build affiliates or customers is something John & Nadia Melton have done on a massively successful basis - read the post "ATM Facebook Group Strategy: The Revolutionary Method to Build Your Home Business" https://mylifestyleacademy.com/how-t...home-business/ (yes - I subscribe to their newsletter)

Now as I had mentioned that building relationships via social media will be one your best source of leads. You can post your regular life topics and occasional biz promo posts/videos (subtle or not)... look at what many of the leaders do on their social media profiles. A great article for ideas on what to post is at https://mylifestyleacademy.com/5-bes...osts-facebook/ . Now there are many Facebook groups where you can post ads/links in home biz/network marketing niches... very time consuming but leads generated happen every once in a while. However there are Facebook groups that you can't do sales pitches in and are only discussion/education oriented. You can learn in these groups, contribute as well as connect up to others in our industry who generally are working other companies... but some day they may switch. Again - place no ads in these groups. Yes - group owners generally often have their own products (generic training systems or books) they want to sell. I own Eric Worre's GoPro book & bought a 5 Best-Selling Products deal from Frazer Brookes (Facebook guru). I also subscribe to few of their newsletters & YouTube channels as well.

Targeted following/friending/connecting on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. I want to connect with positive minded people - many are top biz influencers, entrepreneurs, speakers, business owners networkers, affiliate marketers, teachers, coaches, chiropractors, etc... . On Twitter, I organize many of them in lists - often lists of professional organization accounts like realtor organizations for example who most of their followers are realtors). I follow people who like, retweet or comment on tweets or follow influencers like https://twitter.com/GrantCardone , https://twitter.com/EricWorre , https://twitter.com/JonGordon11 , etc... . I frequent a site that lots of stats in different categories showing exactly how sales are going for a company & often important news that may negatively affect a company. If a company is shrinking in sales 15% over a year... there is a good chance many of their affiliates/reps income could be shrinking as well and are more open to switch to another company. Visit https://www.businessforhome.org/2020...he-world-2020/ to see some stats on 2019 sales of companies - look who's shrinking in sales (more stats to be seen on this site on other pages). I remember when the large sports nutrition company Advocare decided to switch from network marketing a straight one-level pay affiliate system & wiped out people's organizational income. They were looking for a new home. So what did I do? I followed Advocare reps on Twitter, using advanced search I could see who was promoting Advocare links & when. I connected up with Advocare reps on LinkedIn (need to do more on LinkedIn). Yes - a couple reached out to me without me even messaging them. I did the same thing with other companies as well. There are other companies that promote CBD but "none" have the system to grow like we have (a couple even have declining or stagnant growth). Many reps switch over to "company name removed" because of that. So I do follow directly competitive CBD company reps. On Twitter, I use Twitter lists (public & private lists) & one list I spent time compiling a list of 279 company Twitter accounts who's majority of followers are their reps/affiliates. It's a process but I have found it's one good way build relationships which include them joining "company name removed"... it works. Liking multiple tweets too rapidly tweets too or following "too many people too quick" can result in a Twitter limiting some functions (like following/liking) for a time period - limit yourself to maybe 100 follows a day maximum.
    ------------

There is little doubt that many of the top earners in MLM are using social media to actively grow their businesses. So learn from them. I need to do a massively better job myself to be honest.

Creating a blog & YouTube videos is a time consuming aspect but the top earners do it as well as have Facebook pages. Personally I just started creating some YouTube videos with some lead source reviews.

Another way to get leads is using solo ads but you can only do it if you have good landing page sites or it's waste of money. Even with great landing pages, solo ad results will be "low". Just for comparison based on my efforts look at these stats from people who end up taking a tour with my company who decide to become affiliates - warm market 10-20% (people you know) - social media 2-10% (people you kinda know) - solo ads 0.25% to 1% . So solo ad conversions are low even with a strong follow-up auto-responder system. They however do have positives encouraging others to upgrade so I still use them. You need to test out solo ad sellers as many of them "suck". You can better prices often to that sellers quote as well. I've connected with sellers who sell on Udimi via Facebook to by ads in the past. I also admin a couple solo ad Facebook groups.

Hey you can also create a Warrior Forum classified ad for $19.95 & then add that link into your signature here. I did it - have generated about 20 leads/tour takers with 2 of them who became paid affiliates. If I was more active here, I'm positive my results would be higher.

Last summer a gallup poll showed 1 in 7 Americans use CBD products and that number is no doubt increasing (source https://news.gallup.com/poll/263147/...-products.aspx ). Other countries where CBD is now sold like throughout the EU also have increasingly strong CBD sales. It's a hot product that won't be a fad. Many of those people using CBD wouldn't mind getting paid for using and sharing it. Using samples also is a good thing to have for people who curious about trying CBD but not wiling to buy a full bottle/jar of CBD products yet.

There are a number of other free or paid online/offline methods but the key is have it duplicatable for others to do. Hopefully your company has good training available as well as your upline. Learn from who is growing their business in your company. Watch what they do & how they do it. Jason is right about what he says about the "experience" people feel when getting involved with a company, team or individual. People want to see that it can be done, how it is done & feel good about doing it as part of the overall effort.

Remember you need to treat it like a business and realize it is a marathon and not a quick sprint. Most people will quit or even not get started. It was true 20 years ago when I was the National Sales Director for a nutritional MLM (merged with another company) and it is just as true today. It is a numbers game and the more people you share the business and products with... the bigger your business grows. A friend of mine who is a top earner in another company that I worked with last century shares it this way. "We are in the business of talking to people and looking for that pearl - a person who wants to change their life. It's like a bucket of oysters (prospects). Your job is to shuck those oysters to find those pearls. Those pearls may be at the top of your bucket, in the middle or on the bottom. Sometimes you just need to get another bucket. The pearls are always there! Nobody fails - they just quit. If you keep shucking oysters... you will find your pearls."

Hope some of what I shared is helpful to you.

Thanks Larry that'sa lot to take in and will have to go through that with a fine tooth comb. Appreciate the info. I will be looking at it closely. I also see you mentions John and Nadia, I recently been watching some of their stuff like you mentioned. They teamed up with a Marketer names Tanya Aliza that I have been watching.

Thanks again I am trying to find something that works.

It's great you are trying to.
I know one research chemicals company enough
First thing is to look through famous sellers of that stuff and find out completely their business way.
And, of course, It depends on the country you want. It's a very important step.
    Anyway, success in your endeavors

First thing first, you must promote products that you use, believe in, and can show results! To be successful at network marketing or a MLM, you must build relationships with people by sharing your story and experience with the product your are promoting. People buy into people and their stories, and not by bombarding them with ad after ad. Once you find a product you believe in and are having great results with, share your story through social media. Invite people to join your social media platforms by offering great content of your personal experience. Engage with your members of your social media to grow your relationship with them. This will help you grow!
