Thanks for reading. I have been pondering the idea of internet marketing for quite some time. I have always tried to market my own music, shirts and apparel. I've had luck in getting views from other states, even other countries. I figured maybe I could use that experience to reach out to clients. However, I understand it is not all that simple. The main reason being, even if I COULD reach clients, what services would be mandatory to offer. The promotional/outreach part is obvious, but then I think about websites. Are clients assuming that all internet marketers are web designers? I would always offer a website for means of promotion, but figured I could pay a web designer to handle that area. I would then take over all of the marketing and promotion. I have studied Google PPC ads, SEO and other techniques. That being said, I am just concerned about what clients would expect from me, and how I can use the help of others within the jobs that I acquire. What were the first steps you took on your journey?

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Difficult to understand what you're worried about unless it's how to set up some sort of advertising program or building a landing page or website. You are also somewhat vague on what it is you'd be selling.

In any case, you'd be doing pretty much what you do to build a brick and mortar business. You are simply creating a presence online. That could be anything from a template page (look into Blogger for some possiilities) that gives your phone #, email address and/or actual location address. If you'd like to take it a step further you can sign up for free at Google My Business or Bing Places for Business.

If you want to take it further still you can set up a store with Woocommerce or on platforms like Shopify. You'd would have to ship the goods out of your house or from a warehouse. Too complicated? Become an Amazon, eBay or Etsy seller. But you'd still be the shipper.

Hiring folks to build your site (see Fiverr) or learning how to advertise with cost you money. How much depends on you, your budget and willingness to figure it out over the long haul. Probably could add to your profit margins if done right.

I think the OP is hoping to offer marketing services and is trying to find out what potential clients would want or expect. Probably the best way to start is to research the type of services already being offered on freelance sites such as freelancer.com and see what's in demand.

A service provider can offer a specialist skill, such as SEO marketing, or a whole package including web design, hosting and maintenance. It all depends on what type of clients are being targeted and the sort of business the provider wants to get into.

It seems to me that the OP has tried a little of this and that and the other.
There's nothing wrong with that AT THE START.
However, it's dangerous if you keep doing it because your focus will be spread too thin. Using a supermarket as an example.

If you're looking for a tomato, you might have to look up and down different aisles and search for tomato sauce, tomato paste, canned tomato, diced tomato, and so on.That won't help you if your customer is a fresh tomato.

Sit down and write some lists.
List 1 = all skills you currently have.
List 2 = extra skills you hope to learn.

List 3 = Who would your ideal clients be?
List 4 = Where would you find them?

List 5 = What tasks you would like to outsource (meaning you would pay somebody else to do them so you can focus on certain skills).

Once you have compiled these lists, look at combining 1+2 and 3+4.

You say you're worried about what clients might expect from you.
Solve that with a simple questionnaire.

For example, I am a writer/editor/proofreader/ and have specialties within those skill sets. I have 1 regular client who fills out a simple 6 question form for every job. Her forms are easy as they all have similar tasks.
Others may need a couple of pages.

If you are unsure of a client's expectations, ask questions.
It's your business so you choose how you want to run it.

Sorry for the long post but I hope it helps a little.

They will don't care about your web designing skills but they will care more about:
    - How clean and fast is your website
    - How easy is to find what you are offering.
    - How about payment solutions, their information are safe.

Or better to think yourself as a client and visit your competitors websites. What is good, what is missing etc...

Try wordpress, easy to use and hundreds of professional looking themes to choose from.

I get where you're coming from - you have a great idea and are concerned about how to market it. Its seems like you have a great plan and i agree with you on finding the WHO, when you say that it difficult to do it all yourself.

I would concentrate on creating the content on your website ot funnel and just providing your customers with value - outsource the other parts to people Who know how and will do a better job.

ir - if your nor sure about facebook ads get someone to do it for you

Your presentation is very important. You have to determine what areas you would like to tackle on your own or what to outsource. There's nothing wrong with outsourcing the design part if you have the budget and if it's not your forte.

I recommend jumping in there at Freelance sites. Sign up and set up a basic profile, then search jobs / projects to see what others want, what type payment ranges they are offering and so on. This is often free to do until you decide to bid on projects.

Read through profiles of other freelance providers, too, to learn about the competition.

Check our WSOs, Warriors for Hire and other sections of this forum, too, for ideas.

You can offer any number or Internet marketing services from one, like writing content, to dozens - converting the content into other formats and marketing with it, as examples. Start small with just what you know, then gradually grow your service / product line.

    Here's to your success
