Should I start now or should I wait?

Im about to launch a small tshirt business and have influencers who are willing to help me with promotion, however due to limited funding i cannot launch the type of marketing capaign i would like. First Impressions are lasting, and so I have not yet even utilized any form of social media platforms for any promotions, it is pretty much stealth for now. I do understand FB and instagram can allow me to instantly reach a wider market but my conflict is this. Do I start a FB and Instagram page and start with some basic posts to get my sales started or is it best if I wait a few more months until I can launch my preferred advertisment campaign

The answer to your question is... yes... and yes.
Start now and wait are both good answers and it depends on what YOU want to get out of it. When you say wait a few months I assume you mean til the COVID is finished. If so, do you have a magic ball? I ask because here in my State, within Australia, we are starting a much dreaded second wave, mainly because...

...in the beginning when people cued up for brains, or looks, etc, those who got their dose of stupid thought it would be great to cue again and get a second dose... and even a third dose. They are the ones who think that if they are safe, nobody else matters.

Sorry for the ramble but I hope I made sense and that you understand what I am trying to say.

Actually, COVID-19 is the reason that you SHOULD start as soon as possible. In many areas, the only place to shop is online and many websites are breaking all time records in terms of sales.

Unfortunately, far too many people make assumptions about this situation thinking that all other people are in the same boat that they are in. Sure, many people are unemployed or working less but many people were not affected at all by shutdowns due to the type of jobs they have. Those are the people that are spending online. They didn't have the huge outlay of cash that they normally do for Spring holidays and Summer holidays. It is a considerable amount of cash they put aside that never got spent and when retail establishments are shut down, the only place to spend their money is online.

I would say start NOW yo can use the content you put out there as testing the market and start to build up and audience of people who are interested in your product.

You could put a few designs out and get customers to choose a design, with that information you know what to launch and make a bigger impression.

No one has ever entered the world of internet marketing with a full list of customers so the sooner you start the sooner your customers with come.

Spend some time building awareness on Instagram first as opposed to using direct marketing sales tactics because right now no one knows you and tons of people are online selling merch.

Get on Facebook and instagram network market your content to drive leads and build your resume.

Use the influencers you have for now and put time into your marketing. Once you start making small sales keep reinvesting into your marketing that way. The situation doesn't have to be perfect. That doesn't exist. Be very consistent in what you do, even if they are small steps.

My (and many others) big regret is not starting sooner. There will always be "reasons" not to do something. IMO just push ahead and figure it out as you're going. You will learn a ton and reach your goal much faster.

Start now and research "soft launch" tips, secrets, tactics, etc. that are working well for others (in your budget range) in 2020. Check a variety: blog content, articles, videos, etc.

I have found that solo ads are more successful than social media marketing. You can start out with a relatively small amount of money..

I once had a T-shirt printing business. The only orders it was worth doing were bulk orders for clubs, schools etc. Try targeting businesses who have a message to put across.

One other nudge encouraging you to start now: Facebook ads (should you elect to go that route at some point) are relatively cheap right now. This is for a variety of reasons (companies have pulled spend, the pandemic has wreaked havoc on others, etc) ... but perhaps worth considering (although I'd see what traction you can get via your influencers first) as you don't really see material pricing discounts like this very often

My suggestion would be to "just start with what you have". Start posting regularly, organic, don't spent anything on marketing yet (until you can of course)... but start developing your brand, get the word out there etc. See how much you can get others to talk about your shirts and stuff.

As you know procrastination kills many dreams than any other thing in starting something you want. Keep in mind, when you find an idea that you just can't stop thinking about, that's probably a good one to pursue. So, start your t-shirt business with your initial fund. First, sell some than replicate this process. Whether you use Instagram or Facebook. Make a schedule and don't think more, just take action NOW.

I would say, build up social medias while you can. While you have the time, focus on these and building up engagement and your profile altogether. Talk about a launch date and try to build up the 'hype'. In the meantime, wait to launch and keep influencers ready to promote at a later date. Get some more savings in place for paid ads or whatever you have in mind.
