can i use someones image that i found on Instagram under a certain hashtag (without permission) for commercial purposes as long as i slightly modify the image and don't claim that they my customer or use them as any sort of testimonial?

Well - you CAN do it - but it's likely a violation of copyright - could cost you a lot of money - could shut down your site - could 'out' you as someone who doesn't care what the rules are..someone who has no respect for the work product of others.

It's your business and your reputation....might be a good idea to read up on 'copyright' facts and info about image copyright.

    Yeah, no.
But if any of you know where to search for free photos?

You can do it, but if you're caught you can suffer some serious consequences. The best option would be to source your own photos online. It's safer and you'll stay out of trouble.

You always want to protect yourself while you're online. Also just think about how you would feel if someone used your photos for profit.

Sourcing your own photos is the way to go, but you're free to go either way just know there might be consequences.

you can record the source of the picture, but not the content that the picture shows incorrectly. They can force you to remove the photo if they want. But it won't take great damage.
