Except - you aren't just starting out, are you? You asked about lists way back when and had lots of advice in the thread. Did you try it - what worked and what didn't?

There have been many threads since that time with advice on starting and building a 'list' - read michael meaney's sticky thread in the "Warrior Path" section and read various threads in the Email Section of the forum. Will be a good start.

Hi Brent, I think this is a good question and I don't consider that there is an easy answer. For most of us once we are adding constant quality content we set up an autoresponder that will flash on the screen offering a gift to provide their email address. But this is one of many ways.

You could have a landing page that is designed specifically to draw readers to something they really want but they can only get access by giving their email address. You can set up surveys and games.

I think if you research other large established websites you will be able to see how they collect email addresses and find a system that works for you.

It may seem faster to buy a list but these are just unqualified names that may not be interested in your products and if you try and send an offer out in bulk then it will just go to people's spam boxes and get you banned from your autoresponder.

There are no shortcuts, set up your collector, offer something of worth, and be patient.

Thank You so much more the response Lily..I know you need a great capture page with some kind of great offer combined with it to attract and get leads. I was just wondering the best sources to use to advertise this capture page to get the best responses....

The first thing you need to build your list is something people would want to give you their email address for. You have to create a bride. This could be a short book or a video that would help them fix a problem they have been having.

Once you do this you would create a page or a blog which allows them to put in their email address and sign up for your bride.

You'll have to get traffic to your page to get them to sign up. This is going to be the hardest part of the process, but once you figure out how to get traffic to the page you will be well on your way to building your list.

The key is to give away something of value in exchange for the email address.

You can set up a landing page, send traffic to that landing page and offer some sort of value on that page in exchange for adding the email to your mailing list. That value may be a free ebook or short report, perhaps something else you have the right to give away like something you have brought the rights to like a piece of software or word-press theme.

The value that you are trading could even simply be a few e-mails which contain valuable information.

If you have a worthy, compelling offer or freebie then people will be willing to trade their e-mail address for it.

Then you have your first real problem - traffic - nobody will sign up if nobody see's your offer it really is as simple as that. You need to send people to your offer so they can be persuaded by your landing page and it's sales copy and complete the trade.

Paid traffic, free traffic, a mix of both, it's up to you how you like your eggs.

Marketing is a science, and, as a science it involves scientists actively engaging in their own experiments and recording there own results.

There's nothing really overly complicated about the whole thing in this day in age - to be honest I think the biggest hurdle is one's own mind hesitating or over-thinking. If you are one of those people that's stuck on the fence then take my advice: act! Actions get results not thoughts.

Hopefully my answer helped you in some way,
    Peace,

    Slayer 1

I had an ultimate solution years ago - I wrote a pdf file hosting programme which sent the url to the client after upload of their file. I stored their email addresses in a separate folder. I had 1000's of active emails before I pulled the site. The problem was that the emails were just generic email addresses and as such the people were not sourced for any specific market.

landing pages are good - choose a good product, usually a free ebook, and get an auto responder, they enter their email which you record and then you auto respond with ebook/offer etc.

Set up a number of landing page sites under generic headings as each email entered into a landing page will be specific to THAT landing page subject. Use free ebook offers to build your lists.

So for eg - a landing page that deals with forex binary trading - all people that fill in an email are interested in this topic, offer a free product, the product maybe a free ebook. Your auto responder replies with link to ebook and you harvest the email. After you have 1000 emails .. make an email that offers a more expensive product maybe software and send it out.

    Its this simple....!

thanks J this is very good advice as having numerous capture pages with various subjects would direct you to a very targeted group that are interested in a specific niche....very good advice indeed..

I think an email list is your biggest asset.

The easiest way to build your list is to give Value to others. You can create e-book, podcast, or something else.

Give Value to others and expect nothing in return. Then magic happens

    Have a great day

thanks kriveculifestyle good advice...People need good advice also and I believe an e-book is a great way to give it. All you need is a subject that people want. Can anyone give some advice on how to write an e-book and what is the best resource or software you would need to do so??
