what if fb is built on wordpress?

do you think some type of real business being built on wordpress is viable? for examples:
-facebook
-fiverr
-warriorforum
-freelancers
-etc
with that level of user base, and everyday use?

I think the best input should come from programmers perspective here

If you are talking about one guy setting up a WP site on a cheap web host, no it will never happen at that level.

If you are talking about a team with the resources to do so, it can and is being done by large companies.

Interestingly the FB newsroom (their blog not the part where millions of users are posting at the same time) is on the list.

The really short answer to this question is NO ( with an exception ). look at the examples you have listed.. are ANY of them built with Wordpress... that in itself is the answer to your question.

Interesting that you put Warrior Forum in the list, because it is built with vbulletin. Granted it has been heavily modified, but you can buy the base software for $400? So this one could be done ( theoretically )

The business' you have listed have created "Platforms". Platforms by design ( programming ) employ more back end than front end if that makes sense. WordPress in all of its glory ( cough ) simply doe not have the ability to be transformed into a platform as much as people try.

TOP TIP: To browse the forum like a Pro, select "View Classic" from the drop-down menu under your user name.
