Is Guest Post really worth it?

Hey everyone,
I have been into SEO for quite some time now and I have been reading a lot about this guest posting thing.
Even though I have not tried it personally but as per some experts, it is quite successful when it comes to getting the quality backlink.
My question here is, What are the criteria for selecting a website for a guest post?
Thanks in advance.

The criteria is exactly the same as for any backlink opportunity ...

    - The website is at least loosely related to yours (relevant)
    - The website ranks well (the better it ranks, the better it helps your ranking)
    - The website has great traffic - especially important if that traffic is going to be interested in your post/offer and click your link.

Ideally, all of the above would be great. Any of the three is better than none of the above.

If you are reaching out for a guest post submission you should make sure that the website owners audience is targeted meaning interested in the same subject matter that you write about .You want to try find out if there is a good amount of traffic to make it worth your while .

When reaching out to others to leverage their audience you should make sure that you communicate how they will benefit having you as a guest writer to get them.to buy in .Make the proposition mutually beneficial.

I spent a whole day on a guest post for a blog I found through Haro. They still haven't posted my post so I reckon it was pointless. In that time I could have added something really cool to one of my own sites.

It might be worth your time, but not so much for the backlink, but for the awareness of your website. There's a lot of controversy around backlinks, what's right and wrong, how to do them properly, etc.

In my opinion, doing guest posts for the sake of getting a backlink only is not worth it.

According to Google's John Mueller, guest posting for links results in unnatural links and Google already devalues them.

However, if you really want to do guest posting for backlink building, then you should make sure that the website you're getting a link from has a decent amount of organic traffic coming to it. This indicates that search engines trust that website.

Also, make sure that the website is relevant to your own. For example, if you have a blog about health and fitness and a tow truck company links back to you, it's not relevant, hence it's pointless to go after that backlink.

In my opinion, Guestpost is still one of the best off-page SEO supporting factors. But you have to be careful with PBN sites that are wrapped like guest posts. This will harm your website. To see if a site is PBN or not is through the spam score, website age, and consistent traffic on the website. Besides that, choosing guest posts relevant to your website is also very helpful, but getting a website like this is not easy and usually expensive. So the choice of general content becomes a solution. And no less important is the article that is unique and free from Copyscape.

This is from my experience handling my clients who use the guest post services I created, and they are satisfied with the results. I hope this experience can help you.

  • Say you sell a brand of Generators, and you want to get some buzz going around your brand, you should reach out to say "bestgenerators" blog (they appear in top 10 in Google) and convince them why they should include your brand in their list of Best Generators.

    - this way you can "skip" guest posting and also have a high authority site link back to you.

Guest posting is one of the SEO technique used till now but you need to see the quality of guest posting site. Traffic, matrices, niche(should be related to your website), place where your link is going to be etc. I usually do my own guest post and have a list of quality website owners that have traffic and good matrices. You can start hunting for them on google as well.
