Where to start in digital marketing?

Hi, I'm new to the site and I'm trying to find ways to make money from digital marketing.

I'm a master in Marketing, so I'm very aware of the importance of branding, knowing the target audience well, etc etc.

Although I follow some of the biggest players in the market, I never had the courage to start my own path. There are so many options that I am very confused and afraid. Where do you think I should start: Dropshipping? Affiliate Market? Plr? Launch of digital products? Or some other way?

What advice do you give to someone starting now?!

I have €500 to invest in whatever I need (paid traffic, website, creatives, courses etc)

Thank you very much

Youtube? I never thought that youtube was such a good option. In fact, the YouTubers I follow, all complain that it's increasingly difficult to monetize youtube, and that the best part of youtube is that they manage to create an audience that follows them and it becomes easier to direct them to buy their own products. Thank you for your response.

What is there to be afraid of?

There are a thousand ways to make money online so
you should assess the income producing skills that you
already have and decide where to apply them.

I hate to keep repeating myself but I would advise you to
read some books on make money online, passive income,
work from home, and freelancing. You can also watch
YouTube videos but you need to limit those, don't spend
    all day looking at YouTubes.

You should also read through this forum, there is lots of
priceless information here. One of my favorite threads
that I highly recommend for newbies is:

    https://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...ate-index.html

It doesn't really matter where you start, it is important

    THAT YOU START. DOING. SOMETHING.

Thank you so much for your answer. I'm really going to take a look at this thread. One of the things I thought was to focus on the e-commerce market and start with dropshipping. The infoproducts market also seems very attractive to me. But as I have no experience in content marketing, it might not be a good idea to create a digital product now.

      Any suggestion?

      Hi Serene,

Although I have a master's degree in Marketing, I don't feel prepared, I don't have experience in the market. I would really like to become an e-commerce expert, but I have many aspects to learn, such as:

      - Direct Response Copywriting
      - Basic Graphic Design
      - Videography
      - Media Buying

Thank you so much, for your response.
      Have a nice day

  • I would start with affiliate marketing - because this will give you the end-to-end holistic experience of almost selling your own product. While affiliate marketing, you may build a website in the process, create content, work on SEO and paid traffic, extensively use social media and forums, try influencer marketing, reach out to top bloggers for backlinks, and learn to leverage youtube, etc. For a beginner, this experience will add up.

      • If you're brand new to affiliate marketing,

        - I'd start with Amazon Affiliate Program - only because it's harder to fail with Amazon.
        - Then I'd go with Flexoffers Affiliate Program - their platform has >10K Companies (big and small) with varied commission structures you can work with.
        - For newbies/experienced marketers, there is an educational platform called "Marketers Workshop" (.org) that houses in-depth teaching material on every topic needed for an Internet Marketer to succeed - Affiliate Marketing being one of them.
They have a high commission (>50%) affiliate and reseller program that you can take advantage of while/after learning. I think they have a promotion going on now where you can join as a reseller/affiliate for free. This one is a subscription program too - so your earnings will be recurring.

    "I'm a master in Marketing,"

    Following the biggest players

I never had the courage to start my own path.

If ever a newbie posted a conflicted, incongruent post, this is it. The idea of anyone who claims to be a marketer, let alone a "master" and doesn't know where to start? Where to begin?

Keep your 500 in your pocket, you are no where near ready for this. However, if you follow some of the advice already given, and dive into the Paul Myers thread on DESPERATION, as has been linked to, then maybe next month, you'll have a better idea.

I have to call HOGWASH on the idea you are a master marketer, no disrespect or personal attack intended, just stating the obvious. OK?

Maybe I wasn't clear in my approach. I have my Master's degree in Marketing, but that doesn't make me an expert, in fact I feel I learned very little and I have a lot to learn, especially in digital marketing.

When I said that I had a Masters in Marketing, I was just mentioning that I am already well aware of the importance of the consumer experience, generating value, etc. etc.

But I have a lot to learn in technical terms, (how to create a website), media buying (I've never done it before), how to build an effective funnel, better ways to grow on social media, influencer marketing. And many other aspects that can only be learned from experience and being on the battlefield.

      Thanks for your response,

        Hello Bruno!

        Thank you for elaborating.

It's great that you have a degree but it's not a requirement.
And it's good to have those additional skills but you can hire
someone to make you a WordPress/website, funnels, etc.

You can learn WordPress on your own, it's really not that
complicated, you can learn through books and YouTubes.
Or you can get a WordPress made for under $100 on
        some of the freelance services.

Don't let not knowing or not being an expert at something
be an obstacle to making money online.

Everybody starts somewhere. Start with something simple
you feel comfortable doing and take it from there.

        Bruno,

There is a world of difference between I am a master marketer and I have a Master's degree in Marketing...you get that, right?

So, in the future, whatever it is you do, even in dropshipping, you want to double check what you say, and if English is a second language, hire or use software to get it right...
You don't want to make those sort of mistakes when money is involved.

Thanks for clarifying, and take away the idea of CLEAR, concise communication in whatever endeavor you choose to do. Good luck.

        GordonJ

Regardless of the method of online marketing the most important aspect of success is "Traffic". without traffic you have nothing. So affiliate marketing, or Drop shipping, may be good options, but how are you going to get traffic to see your offers?

So the other method would be to find a platform that already has "Traffic" and start there. I have a thread about eBay as an example ( https://www.warriorforum.com/warrior...days-ebay.html ) When you sell an item, the platform will charge a fee ( that many complain about ) but I look at it as "paid advertising" YOU are paying the fee because they provide the traffic.

I personally think eBay would be a GREAT way to start. You will learn how to create good headlines, you will learn how to craft text that will sell your items. All you really need is your cel phone to get started. The eBay search is a dumbed down version of Google. So you will start to better understand SEO. I really cant say enough about the things you can learn by selling on eBay.

eBay may not be an option for you... but maybe instagram? Maybe because you have a marketing degree you might know some people that have a hard time selling products? Artist friends, or woodworking friends, or 3D printing friends. You could open up an Etsy store, and maybe sell their items for them.

Justsome ideas... Best of luck, and remember TRAFFIC is the key in any and all online ventures

Dropshipping is a great business model if you don't mind
the hassles that come along with it. You will likely still need
to process orders. There are some systems that supposedly
are automated/integrated but most are not.

You will still need to communicate with the customers, unless
you have staff. If there is a problem, you have to deal with it.

If they want a refund, you have to refund. You can't say, "I'm
sorry but whenever it's returned to my supplier and whenever
my supplier refunds me, then you will get your money back."

You have to issue them a refund once the item is returned
or if it's lost or broken or whatever.

BTW, I used to dropship on eBay several years ago so I'm
        speaking from personal experience.

Dropshipping is not something I would ever really want to
do, maybe around Christmas for a couple of months to
make some extra money, but that would be it.

It's too much of a headache.

I would advise you to research the dropshipping business
model, instead of listening to people tell you how great it
is when they probably have never even been in that
        business before.

There are numerous options to make money online, and with 500 euros, you can have a website on any topic. You can definitely try affiliate marketing. Also, you can read books on making money through digital marketing, do research and find an option that is relevant to your liking and strengths, and if you can't find any, affiliate marketing is the best option.

I know you're posting below each comment, but I suspect most of the contributors in this thread prefer not to use the modern view.

So far, everyone's been discussing various methods of online marketing. I suggest you first decide on what it is you want to market. A product? A service? A range of products? What niche?

If you don't have a particular product in mind, try finding a particular market - one that's already buying something and is easy to get in front of. If you do this, you'll probably find the product(s) or the market will dictate the optimal method(s) of promotion to use.

Imo affiliate marketing is the best way to transfer marketing theory to the digital domain. You don't need to worry about branding etc until after you're already earning inceome. However, it's important to get started on the right foot to avoid going down rabbit holes and wasting time, energy and cash on the wrong stuff.

    Best of luck!

A great opportunity to start an affiliate marketing business. You can be very successful and not incurring a lot of costs. This business model offers many advantages. The disadvantages come with the risk of losing money by relying solely on other businesses. For this reason, even if you continue with affiliate marketing, having a dropshipping element is a good idea. It can provide a steady income for your business. An online store can help you make more money.

Affiliate marketing is the way to go.

You pretty much sell other people's product and you don't have to do anything else.

The vendor follows up with your customer, sends the product, does customer service...

You pretty much collect a commission and that's it.

You can start with free lectures on YouTube, then find a suitable training program on topics such as Google Analytics or promotion and advertising in social networks. On the Internet you can find many quality blogs or podcasts, which have a supporting materials for beginners. What I can accurately advise: do not go straight to marketers, and first study well one of the sub-professions (SMM, target marketer, contextualist, SEO, web developer...). You don't become a good marketer without in-depth knowledge of a sub-profession. Rather you manage to grow into a marketer later from these professions.

I really feel sorry for people that were born with entrepreneurship in their blood but there just was no internet.

The are so many paths to success sometimes that is sometimes the problem itself.

Soon as you hit a speed bump you just hop on a different road. This happens so often. Weeks, months, even years can fly by and you are still trying to gain traction.

For example.."Make a list." There are alot of steps and it takes some time learning autoresponders, telling stories, social media, content creation, but you have to stick to it and learn all you can.

Become a YouTuber. Budget no budget. Do everything or outsource. On cam or faceless.

Entertain, Infotain you still need to learn the behind the scenes techy stuff and SEO. But so what. You learned how to ride a bike right? You can do it.

Wherever you start just have the mindset to hang in there and be realistic that there are steps inside the steps sometimes but stick with it.

I start with observations. They are totally free and so much to learn.

Success does leave a trail and sometimes a course.

There is plenty to to learn freely but do not be shy to invest in knowledge to shorten your journey to success.

Here is a challenge, start finding ways to earn money without spending any or keeping a very low budget.

    Youtube = free

Website = domain registration + hosting perhaps $100/year.

Take something simple and start small. If you can find a way to earn $1000 in a month selling something vs building an affiliate site and maybe earning $5 then your motivation might change.

Whatever you do, do something that gets you excited to keep working on it even when there are days of 0 income.

I think you should start in affiliate marketing due to the credibility that you can instantly borrow. You get to promote a proven product that has testimonials, good sales copy, a track history of converting, and a relatively high commission rate.

Cant say the same thing about PLR, your own brand new ebook, or even dropshipping.
