Promoting a high-ticket product without any conversion!

Hi folks

I own a website about nutrition and fitness

Recently, I set up a Google Ads campaign to promote a $1,000 e-bike, targeting only intent-to-buy keywords (exact match).

I spent $100 on this campaign and got 150 clicks

I think I have designed the landing page well and yet I didn't get a conversion

I paused the campaign because I spent more than the commission I would get from one sale.

What is the mistake I made? Are there any tips that I should follow for set up succeed campaign?

I am still a newbie affiliate marketer. Any Help!

Thanks

You do not say anything about how.

There are many conversion points where you could be losing your buyers.

If you got 150 visitors, you are doing something that works.

So, how closely does the ad match the landing page?

What did these 150 visitors do once they landed on your landing page?

Are you sending them directly to the seller's landing page (if yes, stop it this very instant; if yes, does the seller's landing page have an option form? If yes, some of your visitors bought, from the seller's email campaigns and you will not get the credit.).

Give more info to get better answers.

Ads, keywords, landing page, they are all very match

The visitors see features of bike, Testimonials, and very clear CTA button to buy the product.

Does the suppliers sale page have an optin form?

If yes, there's your answer: you're sending them buyers, they convert them to their email list prospects, sell to some of them, and give you no credit because they're selling to their list.

So, it sounds like they do not trust you.

Also, like you're trying to sell them right away. I'd put up an optin form on the landing page (there would be no buy button, just join button). Then I'd send them emails, where I'd give them good, useful to them info and ask them to buy.

People do not buy right away from someone they do not trust.

You're getting them with ads, so they're cold, do not trust you.

Work on getting them to trust you.

For things in the $1,000+ price point, expect a conversion rate around 7/10 of a percent, which puts you right at about 1 out of every 140 unique visitors, on average.

If I had to state what it is that you did incorrectly it would be two things:

    1) You have a bad supplier. You should be making about 20% on an eBike (~$200/sale).
    2) You should try Google Shopping and Bing Shopping, which should have better cost per conversion rates than standard Google text ads for an eBike.

  • Have you tried using Hotjar? Hotjar captures heatmaps of user behavior on your website and saves video recordings of how your traffic interacts with elements on your site. From my experience, it was the best way to test user interaction and find out what is not working.

They have a decent free-trial period. It will be worthwhile making the most of their free trial - unpause your ad campaign during this time to capture the live recordings.

The best is if you have shared your landing page for Warrios members check its quality. Maybe you have hire a professional designer to create a high converion landing page.
On Fiverr you may find a lot of resources and professionals that can help you with a small budget, you just have to research.

The best if make AB tests to check what page converts better when you start making some comissions. Good luck!!

The thing about paid traffic is that you should already know what you are doing. You've already paid attention to one important metric: That the AdSpend can't be higher than the expected pay. Otherwise you will make losses, as you already know.

In general, Google doesn't like promoting affiliate products through Google Ads.

As already written, I would fall back on other traffic channels (SEO, organic social media), especially for the learning effect. These are skills you can use in the future. Especially SEO is a skill that is exceedingly powerful.

I think that visitors do not trust buying a bike from a general store that is not popular and does not specialize in selling bikes, especially since the product's price is more than $1000

I have read to some members here that the conversion rate is very little or zero when promoting an expensive product

I think the surest way is to promote popular products on popular stores like Amazon and have low or medium price.

You are right, I think that the supplier's page is very weak and not suitable for the traffic I targeted.

I'm sorry; I had no clue you were marketing an affiliate product. You have zero control over the sales page and, in fact, zero control over whether or not a conversion sent by you is actually paid to you or not.

There are very few affiliate products out there that can justify spending on advertising. Most seem to be "how to make money online" type of courses that pay a very large commission. I'd recommend finding places that will dropship the e-bikes for you, setting up a website where you can take payments for those bikes and gaining control over the buying experience.

    @Mamymilan60

Do yourself a favor and don't ever post your business
links on this forum, all you're doing is creating even
    more competition for yourself.

But since you posted your website, I will critique it.

People are NOT going to come to your brand new blog
with the sparse content and drop $1,100 on a bicycle
    through your links.

In order to sell that bike, you need to develop a blog or
website all about bikes. And that site would need tons
of information on a particular topic such as mountain
    biking, or whatever.

It looks to me like you are trying to cover too many topics -
the Keto diet, the Carnivore diet, this, that, and the other
    thing. It's disjointed.

I think that your articles with the Amazon links are done
correctly so I would suggest developing more content for
Amazon sales, as well as the ClickBank products.

Lose the links to WebMD and anything that isn't going
to pay a commission, you are just funneling people off
    of your site.

The site is pretty new so keep developing more content,
zhuzh it up some more, work on your SEO, and this could
be a real money maker for you in a couple of years.

It's a common error to try and mash traffic generation and conversion into a single step. Did you do this?

Traffic needs to come to an opt-in page, where you capture the lead info.

Then you follow up with them using an email series. Lead capture is only the first step. Then you need to warm the potential customer up, give them reasons and multiple opportunities to buy.

This is not a one step thing.

Nicely put. Since the product you are selling is an expensive one, it may take more effort to convince the people to buy the brand or the model you are pushing. You may need to come up with enough convincing reasons for people to buy the product you are promoting instead of some other product.

If you know Anik Singal, he said he made millions of dollars online by focusing on telling people why they should buy a particular product (which you are promoting). Master the why in order to make thousands or even millions in online income. Don't just focus on the features of the product, give emotional reasons and benefits WHY someone should buy that product.

You can create a series of emails once people have opted in where you give few reasons in each email to go for the product you are promoting. You could maybe compare that product with similar others in the market and show why your product is better than others, etc.

You need to try more things, make more efforts and see if you are able to make some decent sales. You can try to sell them after they opted in, but more of your sales may come in through subsequent emails that you send out to the list. Experiment with different stuff.

You may lose some money early on, but can gain valuable marketing lessons which could prove beneficial for years to come and help you make tons of money in the long run. So no need to lose hope just yet.

I would focus instead as mentioned above on acquiring a targeted list on that niche first.

Imagine the leverage you have when you can make a recommendation for a bike and later for bike accessories, bike apps, etc.

You just keep growing sales not a one shot and you're out model.

Everyone here has basically said the same thing and I agree with all of them

You have to collect the emails first from your landing page and then also with your website(they can sign up for newsletters)

Then maybe spin it around a little by trying Microsoft Bing ads (mod edit - no promoting in discussion posts pls) together with google ads and split testing and tracking to see which one works best.

    Cheers and best of luck

One of your funnel steps is sucking money out of you.

You need to know which one.

Is it your ad on Google?

    Is it your landing page?

    Is it your offer?

It might be all of the above.

Well if you promote psihical products then the comision its very low like 5 or 10 percent so from a 1000 $ product you will get like 50 or 70$.Instead promote a digital product and the comision its 50 or 70 percent so from a 1k product you will get 500 or 700$ you see the diference ?

Pinterest? Free advertising. I have tried it but so far no sales. Maybe it is a lot of hype. The big brands all have ads on there.

In conversion , there are so many things you need to analyze. That is why A/B testing is a thing in paid advertising. you cant just design one page and pray for conversions. Tweak and learn.
