Everyone knows about YouTube, social media, forums etc... Is there any other more creative ways to get free traffic people have had success with?

There are actually many free traffic methods.
1.you can write article on MEDIUM and then embed your affiliate link in it.
2.running free ads on free ads site.
3.you can get your self a free website on WIX site.
4. E marketing.
5. Seo

Sponsor an event likely buyers attend.

You have a site about exercise equipment, sponsor a healthy cooking event.

Put ads in small newspapers.

Run a contest.

Run a contest at/on someone else's event/show.

Run a survey, send participants results with offer.

You could do a variation of a joint venture with someone that has a large following.

Perhaps offer your paid product/content as a Free Unannounced Bonus to his/her audience and of course have links to your other assets inside.

It is not always about the traffic source, focus on youTube, master it and you will get the results you need. don't try to re-invent the wheel.

Stay consistent with one platform and lear its secrets. when it gets you results by using a simple strategy. move to another platform and use multiple traffic sources.

If you are new to Affiliate marketing, focus on one platform, one offer, one strategy to get results.

If you keep bouncing around about shiny objects and secrets. you'll not get what you want.
