Looking for experts!
It's been a while since I have been in this forum, feels good to be back!
I have a question for you: "Ever heard about GPS trackers??"
I've been recently hired by a startup which is developing a GPS tracking APP.
They already have a supplier for the tracking devices and the APP is almost ready, however, they have no idea how to market it
A GPS tracker is a small device (link removed by mod) that is used to track vehicles or assets. Every modern phone has one.
The kind I'm talking about, is usually wired or plugged into a vehicle, and via app/web/SMS you can check its exact position.
In fleet management, these devices helps to track the drivers, giving info about where the merchandise is (delivery status!).
They also provides information about the driver's driving style, speed, idle times, and diagnostics concerning the vehicles, like tire pressure, oil level, battery of the vehicle and more when connected to other measurement instruments.
The main advantage is that, installing these devices in your fleet and checking the app, you can easily improve your control over your drivers' performance and deliveries. Eventually, you could increase productivity, save time and fuel, reduce emissions, collisions, fines etc.
Another benefit, more B2C, is security wise. Installing a tracker on your vehicle, one always knows where his car/motorbike/e-bike is, wether a thief or your son/girl have "stolen" your car, you will always know where they are.
I'd like to make this trackers thing work, however I know nothing of this sector, and the collegues here look pretty naive to me.
Moreover, it is not like it is a new market.. Many companies already have this kind of technology, we are late and not particularly market wise or aggressive.
Right now, I'm preparing a big database of automotive parts and accessories online shops' contact details, local automotive parts shops, even mechanics. The same for tech and security online and physical stores. They could be our first channel, to warm up a bit.
A second step could be reaching small-medium companies with a decent fleet and try to sell them our fleet management solution.
About B2C, on Amazon these trackers don't seem to sell very well. However, I know many people who love their motorbike/cars above anything else, but don't know about this devices. It might be profitable "track these niche down".
My question is very simple and comes from a salesperson, not a marketer, what would you do to sell as many devices as possible?
This is the first "cool job" in a while for me, and I'd like to make it work!
Any idea/suggestion will be extremely helpful.
I thank you in advance for finding some time to help me. THANKS!
Peace, Gio.
