Google Trends is *pathetic* - what use is it without search numbers?

I've tried using Google trends to find items that are popular to create an ecommerce website. Just wanting to get some inspiration.

It's pathetic. What good is a graph to ANYONE?
To see a graph go up or down or spike on periods - it's complete meaningless.
Or see an increase of 1000% - what good is that when you don't know what number it increased from to 1000%?

Am I missing something?
Does anyone at all use this amazing tool given by Google?
(I'm guessing I am missing something important and am just being dumb.)

Where else should I go to get actual figures?
Somewhere reliable and free?
Else, what paid options are worth considering?

Thanks.

Trends gives useful info. Search for a long period of time. It will tell you if something is seasonal or not, and which season(s) are high and which are low and it will tell you if it's disappearing, stable or increasing.

Oberlo has a pretty good article on how to use it (Oberlo is in the dropshipping world).

I have never seen someone using only Google trends, there are several tools that you should consider and use them all at the same time.

Based on my experience working with clients, they usually don't get out of this list below, at least from "beginner to intermediate level" and even expert level, once they get the pattern and know exactly what they are looking for or expecting from the research:

So, research and decide what tools you need in place to help you, here is the list my clients are using for a decade now:

    • Ubersuggest
    • SEMRUSH
    • Google Trends
    • Google Analytics
    • Google Search Console
    • Yoast

    I hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Adam

OK, you guys are experts compared to me.
    But I still need convincing.

Oberlo? I'm sure I've missed something. There is absolutely nothing that can be seen on the website that has a search tool for terms.

    Ubersuggest: yes. It's OK
SEMRush: gives like the first line of search results - you have to pay for the rest.
I just dont see how Google Analytics will help search for keywords??
Google Analytics is for your own website?

As regards Oberlo, I gave you the link to an article about how to use trends.
