How to get started as self employed?

Hello,

I'm hoping in the near future to start up a business. I want to get everything right and ready to go ahead of time so I've been researching my options. A big step is invoicing, I don't have much know-how and the more I look into my options the more overwhelmed I feel. Does anyone have any good suggestions for an invoicing app to get started? Nothing to0 lengthy and that is easy to use.

I'm also always looking for more forums/blogs/articles that I can read over to better prepare myself for get my business started. Any and all suggestions would be amazing, thank you for the time and help!

It's tempting to concern yourself with details when starting out, but it can also stifle you. I wouldn't overcomplicate this. For example, invoicing isn't a big deal. It's a simple matter to create an invoice within a PayPal Business account which would more than likely be good enough to get you going.

Much more important is having a clear method to get your product or service in front of potential customers or clients. Do you have a plan for this?

Agreed. Paypal is the best if you are in early stages of your business. Not just the beginning Paypal is a going to be a good companion of your business as you grow.

The best experience in this case is experience and you can never get it all right .

Learn yes but don't over consume because you will create confusion .

More importantly of all take action and get in the field .

You need to mention what type of business/start-up you are going to do. Then we can discuss it in detail.

Along with searching on this forum, i would suggest watching Youtube videos on the topics of starting a business online and everything that you will need. Sometimes the audio and visual hits you better than just reading. And you can easily create invoices via Paypal. Don't worry about getting everything right. Mistakes are the best teacher, and you quickly learn from them.

There are people starting with actually making sales. That is a great place to start.

People are using platforms like Shopify, Print on Demand, Etsy even eBay and own a real business.

Many platforms have entire Sales Funnel Process tools and resources built in.

Nothing will impact you more than making a sale. You will find out how to multiply those sales.

Study who is already successful...success does indeed leave a trail.

Do you know if you go to Empire Flippers right now there are Shopify eCom stores selling for Millions of Dollars?

Nice to know you're starting a business soon! When it comes to choosing the best invoicing app, I would recommend either Invoicely or Wave Invoicing. You can get started with any of the two apps.

As others already told you, don't think too many steps ahead. First decide which kind of business you want to do, then find/create a great product and then find the right audience for it. Then learn how to market your product to them and then start thinking about the payment process. Good Luck!

I dove head-first with freelance writing. It I dove head-first with freelance writing. It did require someone to take a small chance on me, but that small chance helped my freelancing take off. The only thing I knew how to do was PayPal, and I found a tutorial on creating PayPal invoices (though it was self-explanatory once I pulled up the invoicing area).

The hardest part for me is that I don't have clients after finishing a project, so make sure you continue booking and marketing yourself while working on client projects.

I don't plan to freelance forever, but it is doing my new blog well. I didn't have a choice with freelancing, though. I needed to be able to pay my bills and remain stress-free. I can't work as much as people hustling, so I don't do it. Your mileage will definitely vary from mine.

Welcome to the WF. I wish you the best on your journey.

In addition to using PayPal, you can also create an account with Stripe for invoicing.
