Affilate Marketing Dirty Litty Trick

Hello All,

I have been a web marketer for 10+ years mainly SEO. PPC and now slowly getting it Social.

I wanted to start learning and doing affiliate marketing and I joined several platforms such as Clickbank and others. As I was looking at the programs I wanted to represent I see that all of these vendors have that I cannot do PPC based on there Trade Names. So if the vendor is selling product "XZ" I cannot do any ppc on Google for the keyword "XZ". Now I have no problem with that whatsoever, however when I do a Google search for "xz" I see several ads coming up in position 1 and 2 and sometimes even 3 on Googles page. What the vendor did was by additional domains and did PPC and targeted "xz" as a keyword.

I am now getting annoyed, I am spending time, doing research to market this product and it seems this vendor has dominated Google. I now wondering if I should even bother to promote there product or not?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

You can do SEO for those keywords. You can build an email list. You can blog.

Just because a product owner does not want you to compete on their name/ product name on ppc does not mean they've got everything covered. As a matter of fact, they're offering affiliates money because they know that.

Do not get annoyed. Accept that that's how it is or play another game.

Hey Jeff, surely there are other keywords for that vendor that you can target rather than just the brand name? Pretty standard for them to not allow their name to be used. There must be opportunity to target other keywords if they have an affiliate program or what would be the point in them setting it up.

What I started doing was long tail keywords PPC. So I was paying 40 to 60 cents per click and I was highly targeted. Used a lot of Phrase Matching and in my case focused on tinnitus after a lot of keyword research.

Now seeing how 80% of traffic is mobile does it make sense to redirect the end user to a 50 minutes video presentation or to there text page that looks like crap.

How well does the video convert?

        How about the crappy page?

If they're the product owner's, ask.

Then send your visitors to the one that converts better.

If you cannot get an answer, test and send them based on your test results.
