Looking for ideas to expand income

Have a girlfriend who has mainly sold online for many years and is looking for a remote job with more stable income that will allow her to continue to travel. Has considered getting certified with AWS or Google cloud computing. She's had some IT experience in networking but it was a good many years ago. She doesn't want to do programming or a job that would require long hours and dedication to a team, and she's also uncertain she could get a job at her age (50s). Thoughts?

    Sounds like a long list of 'wants' - and she isn't even asking her own questions here.


    Why not ramp up what she's been doing (selling) online to keep her travel options open? She doesn't want an offline job - no team work - no long hours - assuming in her 50's she's 'too old'.


    IT skills from years ago would need to be updated...would 'getting certified' be a real help? (I don't know the answer to that).

    If she's sold online before, why not do more of that or improve skills in that area so as to sell more in the same amount of time or some other combination?


    What is she after, the security of working for someone else? Ain't there.


    Fewer headaches? Possible but pay is not great and will never be great.

      She has sold new clothes, toys, kitchen items. The space has gotten extremely competitive, and she also wants to get away from keeping inventory.

        I get its become competitive but it's not what she's selling or sold, its how she did this and the skills and experience she gained from it that you need to focus on. Use that and find something else to sell. Doesnt even need to be physical products. Her skills probably can be used across the board in digital downloads, affiliate etc.

    no inventory necessary

    She needs to come up with ideas for work she is WILLING to do. Selling clothing online is tough - but there are other items that would require less inventory management yet utilize the system she is currently using.

    A lot of people in their 50s and 60s will be retired or soon retiring. Many will have funds and time on their hands to realize long-held ambitions to travel.

    Your friend could combine her traveling with documenting interesting places, what to see and do, where to stay - and gear this toward her age group. If she's traveling solo, that's a niche to exploit right there! She could compile guides to sell as ebooks and affiliate with hotels and travel services.

      Thanks. She hasn't saved up enough to retire.
      As far as travel, she wants to be able to work from anywhere to be able to work remotely.
      With the selling online, she's tired of the constant hustling.
      She can work with teams, and wants to get certified in cloud computing, salesforce, or similar that would allow her more opportunities in working remotely.

    If she has computing skills maybe she could design Apps.


    Also well worth looking on Fiverr.com as she may be able to offer her services as a virtual assistant with her computing and other skills.
