The best way to check if a backlink is spam or not is to use a tool like Google's PageRank. If the backlink has a high PageRank, it's likely that it's not spam. You can also check the link's anchor text and see if it's relevant to your site. If it is, then it's probably not spam. Finally, you can always contact the site owner and ask them about their link policy.

PageRank is good. I also use ubersuggest to check authority of the linked site. At the end of the day there's no actual definitive tool that'll tell you 100% how google will see a link. You can use these tools mentioned to get a steer and make your own decision from there.

And how are you going to know Google's PageRank since Google stopped making PageRank public years ago?

Why would you check your link's anchor text to learn if it's relevant to your site? You created the link, therefore, you should know without checking!

What do you mean by negative result?

What do you mean by positive result?

If you create the links for SEO-purposes, you are creating very weak links, not worth bothering.

If you're creating them to get visitors, depending on the site, they might be worth creating.

If your site is about getting toned, links from forums on exercising are good, in the sense that their traffic is, in large part, people interested in getting toned or exercising, so if they visit your site and you have something to sell related, some might buy.

But how many people visit depends on how many people see your backlink and that depends on how many people visit a site. So, getting links from a site with lots of visitors is better than getting them from a site with few visitors.

I am not a beginner in using backlinks on forums and guest posts, but this information was very useful for me. Thanks! I have been using PageRank, but I've never heard about ubersuggest!
