Hi, I am using URL shortener plugins like Thirsty affiliate and Prettylinks for affiliate products promotion.

Please suggest me which Link prefix is best .
"Recommends"
"go"

1. example.com/recommends/namecheap
2. example.com/go/namecheap

Which one is best ?

It just doesnt matter.... you could leave it long without using a plugin to make it short... plugin ='s problems somewhere in the future...not compatible with an update or it gets blocked due to a security issue or whatever else. Less plugins is always a good thing. And I just dont see the length of a link regardless of its size being a bad thing

Thanks for your suggestion but I have seen many big bloggers and marketers are using URL Shortener plugins. I am not familiar with coding and it will be difficult for me tocreate short url for affiliate marketing.

So lets go at this from another angle... WHY - why do bloggers and marketers use them?

The short answer is to not allow the end user to know where they are going until they get there... sleight of hand, trickery, and deceit. Because back in the day, people thought they were being sneaky and gaming Google, because affiliate links were looked down on... the world has changed but the mind set has not. The end user could care an absolute rats tail end if the link is long or short. The "Idea" behind this at this point is a short link is easier to share... and exactly how is it easier?

Lets look at this site as another example of "It doesnt matter" a link to my favorite book ( No affiliate ) ( https:// www. amazon.com/Jab-Right-Hook-Story-Social/dp/006227306X/ref=sr_1_5?crid=260OYYM5YTXK9&keywords=gary+vayner chuk+books&qid=1668887292&sprefix=gary+vayner%2Cap s%2C87&sr=8-5 )

And what WF does with said link ( https://www.amazon.com/Jab-Right-Hoo...ps%2C87&sr=8-5 )

Your spending all this time trying to fix something that many platforms have already done for you... again I just dont think it matters.

      I agree.

Bitly has worked fine for me and is free.

Bitly is good for placing URLs on external platforms like Youtube , twitter and other websites etc. Using bitly links on own website is bad idea.

Major problem with bitly is it allows one destination URL only. For multiple URLs and tracking it urges for premium plan.

That doesn't mean it's the best route for your business. Depending on your affiliate strategy, you could just text link or create a separate sub-domain like "coolcloudsrecommends" and redirect the affiliate links that way. No coding required. Or just leave the long link - people won't care if you've already done a half decent job of convincing them to click.

Although external link-shortener services have been around for some time, there's still a risk that any particular third-party service might shut down or disappear without warning. That might not be a big issue if you only have a handful of affiliate links to monitor, but if you're sitting on a large network of these third-party links spread all over the net, it's a scary thought.

      You've made me think here.

If I ever go back to serious affiliate promotions on youtube, etc. I will give some serious thought to where/ how/ if I shorten my links.

My Youtube course teacher told us to use bitly but I'm going to check in with him again before I do another serious internet-wide affiliate campaign.

He's very supportive and looks into anything and everything.
