It's extremely unclear to me what your "product research website" is. Based on what you wrote, it seems like a typical dropshipping website directory where they list products, your "wholesale" cost and the contact information for the actual vendors who will be selling it to you at that price.

Please keep in mind that these type of directories are rarely showing true wholesale prices. They are usually middlemen who take a cut and the "wholesale price" you are shown is the price after they have taken their cut. In other words, the price is bumped up a bit in order to cover the commission the "wholesale directory" receives for referring you to those companies.

Can you still make money using these service directories? Sure, but you may be making 10% less than if you would have contacted the actual manufacturer directly. This not only puts you at a competitive disadvantage with other websites that are selling those products, but it may also make your cut so small, that it makes it difficult to pay for ads for your products and still realize a profit that is worth your time.

The best route is to contact the manufacturers directly, asking if they will ship products directly to your customers and if not, ask if they have any distributors that you can contact. Yep, this is harder and a little scary for newbies but it is really the only way to ensure that you are getting the best wholesale price possible.

As far as ads go, you create those, yourself, and typical places to advertise are with Google (Text Ads or Google Shopping), Bing (Text Ads or Bing Shopping) and Facebook (which only works with some product types). There are others, but those are the most common places to advertise.
