How was your experience? What do you do if the customer did not like your work?
#beginners area #freelancer #worked
  • If the customer doesn't like your work id ask them what they don't like about my work and fix the problem .If that doesn't work and we can't come to an agreement I will give them a refund or work towards a mutually beneficial out come

  • What you need to do is implement a process for your work, and part of that is a feedback loop. And then follow this process. If you are making it up every time, you will have inconsistent results.

I went to Google Bard and prompted it to create an efficient freelancing process including feedback loop. Here is what it returned:

Efficient Freelancing Process with Feedback Loop

    1. Onboarding

    * **Initial consultation:** Meet with the client to discuss their needs and goals, and to get a sense of their working style.
    * **Proposal:** Submit a proposal that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and budget.
    * **Contract:** Once the proposal is accepted, sign a contract with the client that clearly outlines the terms of the engagement.
    * **Kickoff meeting:** Hold a kickoff meeting with the client to review the project plan and to answer any questions they may have.

    2. Project Execution

    * **Regular communication:** Communicate regularly with the client throughout the project, providing updates on progress and soliciting feedback.
    * **Deliverables:** Deliver work on time and to the agreed-upon quality standards.
    * **Revisions:** Make any necessary revisions based on client feedback.

    3. Feedback Loop

    * **Mid-project feedback:** Collect feedback from the client at the midpoint of the project to identify any areas of concern and to make necessary adjustments.
    * **Post-project feedback:** Conduct a post-project survey or interview with the client to collect feedback on their overall experience and to identify areas for improvement.

    4. Continuous Improvement

    * **Review feedback:** Review feedback from clients to identify common themes and areas for improvement.
    * **Implement changes:** Make changes to your freelancing process based on client feedback.
    * **Monitor results:** Track your progress and make further adjustments as needed.

Additional Tips for an Efficient Freelancing Process

    * **Use a project management tool:** A project management tool can help you to stay organized and on track.
    * **Set clear expectations:** Make sure that the client has a clear understanding of the scope of work, timeline, and budget.
    * **Be responsive:** Respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally.
    * **Be proactive:** Proactively communicate with the client to keep them updated on progress and to identify any potential problems early on.
    * **Be flexible:** Be willing to make adjustments to your plans as needed to meet the needs of the client.

Capturing and Learning from Customer Feedback

    * **Collect feedback in multiple ways:** Collect feedback from clients through surveys, interviews, and one-on-one conversations.
    * **Analyze feedback:** Analyze feedback to identify common themes and areas for improvement.
    * **Share feedback with team:** Share feedback with your team so that everyone can learn from it.
    * **Implement changes:** Implement changes to your freelancing process based on client feedback.
    * **Track progress:** Track your progress and make further adjustments as needed.

By following these tips, you can develop an efficient freelancing process that delivers high-quality work and a positive customer experience.

The above is basic but gives you the idea. You can go to an AI platform and prompt it for a process specific to the service(s) you provide.

  • yes i have. if a client does not like my output i ask for his honest feedback and his suggestions, and redo the work. yes i know it's added work but when you're starting out sometimes you need to put more work but it will all be worth it, you can put your previous works in your portfolio and credentials.

but now it's different lol it's been decades and i pretty much know now when a client just wants my design and milk me.

    still depends.
  • yep asking whats wrong and simply offering a refund when nothing else helps is usually the best way

    • Agree! It is indeed the best way. Firstly to propose to rework or change something, and if it doesn't help or client doesn't agree to it, simply offer a refund.
  • I've been freelancing for 20 years. If they don't like you're work ask them why and figure out how to deliver to their satisfaction
  • Not yet, but maybe in the future, once I have a high value expertise
  • I've worked as freelancer some years ago.

Normally, if client is unhappy with something, they will tell you and you just have to fix it. But if they want to add new features or request something ridiculous, then you'll have to charge extra.

If you freelance through a 3rd party like fiverr or upwork, they have team and support to handle issues like this, if for example the client doesn't want to pay for your work.
  • I have been freelancing and paying bills responsibly for the past 15 years
  • I have never worked as a freelancer mainly i dont have the skill sets, i suppose i could learn them but it make several years to master, but in my business i do some research and search for the best freelancers and regualrly use them for all area of my business.
  • So how many years exactly, theirs a 5-year difference there :>)
