Domain Registrar and SEO

I transferred 2 of my client domains that were ranking all on first page from namesilo to nicenic.com

Few weeks later, the homepages of the 2 websites transferred to them, dropped from search result.

One just completely disappeared and the other one is going down as well gradually..

I don't know if a domain registrar reputation can affect domains that are registered under them.

All the 2 domains that were doing well, dropped and one completely disappeared. When you check all the sites requirements to rank, all are okay. No virus, nothing as an issue.

    to

    nicenic.com - a company with multiple bad reviews and a one star (out of five) reputation located in Hong Kong.

    What could possibly go wrong??? Why would you move them in the first place?

      You tried to save a couple of dollars and ruined what

      My comment was not a condemnation and should not have
      been taken as such.

      I am a domainer and have hired several people to help me
      with certain things, and none of them knew what they were
      doing, so I know first-hand that people get into domaining
      because they heard about selling, flipping and making a lot
      of money, but they fail to educate themselves about the
      things they profess to know.

      There was no valid reason to change registrars and when
      the client demanded it, you should have researched things,
      in advance, and advised them of the consequences.

      If managing client domains is your profession, then it is YOUR
      responsibility to know what YOU are doing, NOT the client who
      is paying YOU for YOUR expertise.

      It is probably too late to do anything now, but you can try moving
      the domains back or to another top-notch registrar.

      Your ranking may or may not be restored, there is no way to know
      what will happen.

      My advice, which you can take or leave -

      When you have a site/domain that is performing well, just leave
      it alone. That can be applied to other areas in life as well.

      Research things before you do them, if it is possible and if time
      permits.

      Learn about domains, if you plan to stay in this business.

      A great book that I would highly recommend is

      The Domain Game

      And bear in mind that even when things are more expensive,
      they can still be low-budget.

      Low-budget in the Urban Dictionary sense, not the OED.

    To your question above. I asked your question to Chatgpt, the answer came back that it could indirectly affect your rankings. I won't put the long answer here because of the rules.

    Some reviews say the company has multiple issues and is a good place for Russian Scammers. Support is also poorly rated.

    What were the reasons your client asked to change to that company? If you still have not canceled with the original domain company ask your client to consider switching back.

    This TRAFFIC DROP happens quite a bit when people switch domain registrars

    If your traffic doesn't recover in about 3 months, it appears the change pushed Google to reindex and rerank your pages

    All hope is not lost though....

    You can use this situation as an opportunity to do an INTERNAL LINK AUDIT and focus on building a better "MORE NATURAL" internal link pattern

    It's also a good time to do CONTENT OPTIMIZATION using tools like Frase and Surfer

    Thank you guys for these feedback. I am glad I asked other professionals to gain more clarity on what to do. I will follow your advise carefully.

    Before doing these transfers, I researched and most people said a domain transfer or a registrar regardless of who they are doesn't have an impact on a domain ranking.

    It is quite surprising that, both websites transferred to the same registrar experienced such terrible hit. Had it been it was one domain, I would have pushed the blame on the SEO. But s it occured on both, then I think the registrar choice was the wrong move we took

    We learn everyday and this is just part of the learning experience. The client has agreed to transfer back his domains to the previous registrar namesilo.

    We are planning to do the following:

    - Transfer back the domain
    - Rewrite and optimize the content
    - Resubmit the website for reindexing while working on the backlinks profile
