Free traffic Affiliate marketing - How do I choose a niche to work with?

Greetings, hope you're all doing well.

I'm starting affiliate marketing from zero, I don't have enough money for paid traffic, which means I'll have to use free traffic - in other words, creating content on social media - to get sales.

I've found that in order to sell through organic (free) traffic, you don't simply choose a product and create videos about it and you'll go off selling.

With free traffic, I think it would be like this:
1. Build an audience in a certain niche
2. Promote a product to that audience

So, what should I do to find the right niche?
What kind of research you guys do to find a good niche?

ps. I'm still learning this business, so I appreciate any advice.

How do you choose a niche?

You may be putting the cart before the horse.

If I were just starting with AM, I would first find a product.

But you should do what works for you.

    Research:

See what is selling in your affiliate network.

    Ask your affiliate manager.

    Search with Google.

    Ask ChatGPT.

    Find something evergreen.

    Something that is profitable.

    Something that interests you.

    Something that people are buying.

Hi Monetize, thanks for the advice

YouTube and TikTok recently made a few updates about links:

YouTube: Requires ID verification for "advanced features" (these features includes links in description and comments). Or just keep uploading videos, and YouTube will analyze your channel (this will probably take some time) and unlock the features if you meet the criteria.

TikTok: A minimum of 1000 followers to be able to add a link in bio.

Due to this, I thought it would be better to first build up an audience in a profitable niche, so when I meet the platform's requirements I could promote a product ('cause it wouldn't make sense to create content about a product and not be able to provide a link).

"cause it wouldn't make sense to create content about
a product and not be able to provide a link"

        Really?

What do you plan to create content about?

Some unrelated topic, build an audience for that and
then switch over to something else?

YouTube, TikTok and all the other platforms are always
going to change some rule, don't let that deter you.

Keep going. Try to think outside the box and figure out
        a workaround.

I don't think I need to tell you how money works, but
we all need it all the time. Whenever that money hits
your bank account, you will have some use for it.

I got very lucky with my affiliate marketing because I
hung out on an affiliate forum with product developers,
and so I setup a couple of websites to promote those
products and I made money pretty quick. I didn't have
to promote them or anything, people just found what
they were looking for on my sites.

That was 20 years ago and those build a little website
days are over because now there are a gazillion other
little websites. So now I have to do other things. But I
still get happy when I get paid and I never get tired of
        money.

Anyway, you have to keep going, keep making your
videos, other content, and doing whatever you can.

First of all, select a niche with low competition and starts with blogs related to that niche or product and linked these blogs with the parent blog.

    Hey,
I run a home renovation business in over 10 US cities, offering wall painting, tiling, etc. I'm new to affiliate marketing and looking for advice.

I aim to get 1000-3000 more leads per month in these cities, which is within my budget.

What's the best model - pay per call or pay per deal? What are typical rates? We have our own CRM system to track all stats related to your leads, including income from phone numbers linked to your channels.

I'm already on Houzz, HomeAdvisor, etc., but I think working directly with affiliate marketers could open more doors.

    g.

Monetize hits it right on the mark. Instead of "picking" a niche you should have a niche "pick" you. In otherwards what can you OFFER ( personal experience, knowledge etc..) to enrich the audience of a particular niche and solve their problems ?? Thats where you need to start

Yes as others are saying, probably the best way is to start with your personal challenges in life: Quick example:

Lets say you are someone who always wanted to gain weight. You can immediately choose this topic and take your audience for example on Tiktok with you on your journey to reach your goal of more weight.

Others with the same problem will find your content, resonate with you, and later they will buy products you recommend to them that helped yourself on the way. Know - Like - Trust factor is very important in that approach.

If you are interested in doing affiliate marketing for free and gaining targeted organic traffic, then I think you should first find a profitable niche or blog topic by following a specific method.

You said that you are a beginner, so you may read below the steps that I have acquired according to my experience: They are:

    1. Finding a profitable blog topic (niche)

As a beginner, you don't do any hard work to find a profitable niche for starting affiliate marketing. So to find this type of profitable niche easily, you may use any professional SEO tool where you will find a blog niche finder.

    2. Only create a WordPress blog site.

After finding your targeted blog topic, you now need to create a professional WordPress site to get regular organic traffic.

    3. Creating high-quality and unique articles

To get free organic traffic from the internet, you also need to create unique and quality articles. To increase the quality of your writing, you may use any content optimization tool.

    4. Correct the grammar errors in your writing.

    5. Remove plagiarism or duplicate content.

Don't copy others words, and you also need to check the availability of duplicates in your writing.

    6. Add low-competitive long-tail keywords to your writing articles.

Why are you starting AFFILIATE MARKETING? How did you narrow down to that market, or IM journey? Have you taken any courses yet, nothing wrong with affiliate marketing, I suspect it is harder today than it was for us who started 20+ years ago, so much world competition.

It can be lucrative, as a long haul business, few short term success stories in that world, so are you fully committed to doing it, and if so, why? Have you explored other options or avenues of IM?

Before you go niche searching, make sure you are in the right MARKET, and affiliate marketing offers a lot, but it certainly isn't any fastlane project, are you ready for the long haul?

Build an audience is a tall order. Find one is the easier way to go. Unelss I miunderstood you.

    Shortcuts:
Go to a book store, find books in the series For Dummies.

Why? They've done the research for you. If there's a book about it in the For Dummies series, there's an audienc for it.

You do get to making money faster if you niche down. So, niching down via the For Dummies books? Take a chapter to be a niche, a subchapter to be a tiny niche. Tiny niches and small mountains are alike in this respect: it is easier to be the king of a small one than of a big one.

    Other ways:

    Go to a large store:
    amazon
    home depot
    wayfair
    walmart

They have departments. Which are broken down into sections, which are broken down...

Let's go to amazon, for example.

Type a noun in the search bar.

    I typed exercise.

On the left, hidden among other things is Deparetments: Exercise & Fitness Equipment. That's your market.

You click on it and you see a list
    Balance Trainers
    Cardio Training
    Exercise & Fitness Apparel
    Exercise Machine Parts & Accessories
    Fitness Technology
    Exercise & Fitness Footwear
    Pilates Equipment
    Running Equipment
Sports Speed & Agility Training Equipment
    Strength Training Equipment
    Yoga Equipment

    These are your big niches.

    Pick one.

    I chose Cardio Training
    Clicked.
    And got this list:

    Elliptical Training Machines
    Exercise Bikes
    Rowing Machines
    Step Fitness Machines
    Treadmills
    Vibration Platform Machines
    Physical Therapy Leg Exercisers

Pick one of these. I choose Rowing Machines. Now look at features and anything else.

Narrow down, if it makes sense. So, compact rowing machines, makes sense to me; so do foldable rowing machines and protable rowing machines, but adjustable straps, meh.

Now think... or read reviews for random items... Reading reviews trumps thinking at this stage. Once you've read a bunch of reviews, thinking kicks in.

Herre's a random review for a cheap Sunny Health: "When I first tried it out, I started on the highest level and immediately thought "uh oh, this is NOT going to give me a good workout" as it was so easy. However, once I used it for a real workout, I was sweating bullets in no time with my heart rate up to 165bpm. It's super low resistance which gives zero joint pain. I was surprised at how much of my core was worked! I also like the boat-rowing kind of motion you're able to do with your arms, it definitely adds to the experience."

    Notice concerns and delights?
seemed like it would not give a good exercise but it did
    no joint pain
    like rowing a boat
    worked my core hard

You write things like this down and group them... After a while, you'll see that some of them pop up again and again.

So you focus on those. No knee pain should make you think that some people are looking for a way to exercise that leaves their knees alone as they have knee issues...

And you tell yourself, I wonder if exercise equipment for people with knee problems is a good, viable niche... You do some more research, and you notice that, yup, it is.

You want to niche down more... Combine knee problem with some other problem or common adjective/noun... Like
exercise equipment for men with knee problem and diabetes
exercise equipment for women with knee problems and little space for exercise equipment
exercise equipment for men with knee and heart problem
exercise equipment for men with knee problem and an intense desire to develop a six-pack so as to impress the 30-year-old cashier lady at the Dunkin Donuts down the street.

To succeed in affiliate marketing with free traffic, choose a niche you both enjoy and has a market (with a problem). Pick a topic you're passionate about (easier to create content) and has existing knowledge (easier to build on). Make sure there's a real audience searching for information and products in that niche, with some competition (but not too much) and relevant affiliate programs offering good commissions.

  • You can Start by listing your interests and strengths, then research demand with free tools like Google Trends and Keyword Planner. Also Check niche communities on Reddit or Facebook to see what problems people discuss. Analyze competitors' content and engagement. Try Picking a niche with clear pain points, enough audience, and room for your unique perspective.
