What's the Ideal Keyword Strategy for Boosting SEO on a Small Website?

Hey All,

I'm looking for some tips on keyword strategy for SEO. My site's not up and running yet, but I'm trying to figure out how many keywords I should target per page to boost my rankings.

I know organic keywords can come naturally from the content, but I'm looking for a rough idea. For a site with seven pages, should I aim for at least one primary keyword per page for the H1s and another set for the H2s? And how many keywords would you recommend for subheadings to make sure they read well and are search-intent friendly?

I do have access to keyword research tools, and I'm aware of factors like domain rating and search volumes/ competition / high authority sites, which I'll definitely consider when applying keywords. I'm just looking for a ballpark figure on the number of keywords, or, if that's too variable, I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences you've had with keyword use for new websites. My site's only going to have seven pages.

Also, if you think aiming for one keyword per page is overkill, what would you suggest from your experience with new websites? My site's only going to have seven pages. Appreciate your help.

Thanks

Worrying so much about number of keywords is a waste of time if your site will only be seven pages.

You are focusing on all the 'buzzwords' instead of using common sense. How could ONE keyword/keyword phrase per page be 'overkill'???

Honestly - no reason to consider those for a SEVEN page site. My suggestion is to build a site that you add to consistently and frequently.... In the past I would not launch a new site with less than 35-50 pages....today I would want double that before taking a new site 'live'.

    Why such a 'thin' site?

There is much to know about SEO. It's kind of like Feng Shui, the learning never ends.

The best way to use keywords is to use them so that they seem natural, not over-use
them or engage in keyword stuffing, where you are using unrelated keywords just to
    appear in search results.

It might take years to master the use of keywords but you can do some things like
read a book or use A.I. to help you develop your content in the meanwhile.

  • For a small website, focus on long-tail keywords relevant to your niche, optimize for local SEO if applicable, and build quality content around these terms to improve organic reach and engagement.
