Pages on my wordpress blog not being indexed?

Hey guys,

I checked my blog and it seems most of the pages of my blog, which I started 2 years ago, are not being indexed. This includes recent posts posted months ago, and 1 year ago. I submitted a index request for a new post last week, and it still has not been indexed. I resubmitted today as well as for those pages not indexed.

Some posts from a few months ago to a year ago are indexed, but unfortunately, this is a rarity.

When looking in SiteKit and JetPack there are page views being counted for pages that are not indexed, like my most recent post.

My question is, is this normal or should I be trying to fix things?

The message I get is "no referring sitemap detected". I'm advertising my posts on social media but I want Google to count these views with their bots so the page becomes more popular.

Any help is appreciated!

I have some pages which are not crawled/indexed due to a number of reasons, but there seems to be 2 of these pages and one is indexed but the other is not.

Everything seems to be indexed except my 3 most recent posts the most recent being uploaded today and the last one being published in December.

This is becoming more and more common. Mainly because of the sheer number of pages that sites are creating. Do they really need to crawl and index all pages? No.. as most of them have very little value for their users. So the quest becomes how can you MAKE your pages valuable. Social, video and internal links and backlinks from other sites to each blog. All of these signals tell Google that it should be indexed.

Obviously, this is taking into account that you have a properly formatted sitemap and that robots aren't restricting Google

Hi Noel, so since I posted here 2 of the pages have been indexed. One has not so I put an internal link on it in the hope Google will index it. I think it is a useful post, a free training program. One of the most valuable for my visitors. I will go back over my posts and link to other sites and my socials. I have with some and they are indexed. As for robots and the sitemap Id need to check this but I have not changed anything specifically.

Another question that post which is not indexed yet as gotten the most views, will those views be taken into account by Google so it ranks higher? It has 4 times the views compared to the others.

In the last year I have gotten 24 clicks from browser But I got 44 new users who saw my most recent post which I advertised on social media. So social seems like a great way to get more views and maybe I need to improve my SEO though I only have the site for 2 years. My seo seems ok, I include everything the course taught me.

As for my sitemap it was submitted in June and says "success". So seems fine. Though no other pages have been discovered.

If your blog posts aren't getting indexed, the "no referring sitemap" message means Google can't find your sitemap. Try re-submitting your sitemap in Google Search Console. Also check your robots.txt file and make sure there are no "noindex" tags blocking those pages.

Hi both Malik and Noel. So I have been checking some things. This is my sitemap and it has all pages listed there so I think it looks fine.

This is my robots file for my site and it seems like there are no pages being blocked.

Do you usually input your postsitemap url with your domain on URL Inspection Tool? Right now it says "no index tag" located in "X Robots Tag http header". (This is the sitemap with all of my posts)

One of my posts is discovered but not currently indexed. I presume it will be indexed later on? I added a link from another one of my pages to it yesterday. I guess it would be good practice to add links from other pages to all pages like this.

Let me know, I appreciate your help!

Yeah, that sounds like an indexing issue with your sitemap. Double-check that your sitemap is submitted properly in Search Console and not blocked by robots.txt. Also, make sure your posts are linked internally, orphan pages often get skipped. If all that checks out, try updating the content slightly and resubmitting again. Sometimes Google just needs a nudge.

Hi Saiful and Smashed Potato, Google Search Console is indexing the pages that were not indexed previously. It says the sitemap has been indexed as well as 17 other pages. The thing is I have 18 pages on my site which includes all posts, contact me, about me, and my homepage. When looking at sitemaps read, it has read category and post sitemap but not author sitemap, page or post tag sitemaps. Is that a problem?

So my pages with the tags showing different categories are not currently indexed. I have sent an index request but I don't know why they wouldn't be.

Hi there Its not typical for months old posts to still not be indexed particularly if yuor actively marketing them. If Search Console displays "no referring sitemap detected" theres probably a fundamental problem

Ensure that your sitemap is submtted and updated in Google Search Console and that there are no "noindex" tags or robots.txt blocking your posts.

unless Google is able to locate adn crawl those links, social media views have no bearing on indxing. It should be easier for Google to find and index your content if you fix the sitemap and internal linking

Try using a website indexer tool like PrePost SEO to speed up indexing. Also, add push notifications like LaraPush to re-engage users and boost site signals over time.

Adding new pages is the way to go. (I am just guessing)

I used to do this and care about my site being indexed like 5-7 years ago but now there is so much competition that I believe ONE THING:

It takes money to make money especially if you want QUICK results.

Hi, how would you invest money on a website/blog? I'm going to keep posting to show my progress which I hope will encourage people to contact me looking for help. But it costs a bit so want to make it count. I have 1500 views in 2 years right now. Not sure if that is good.

It's not normal for posts to take that long to index, especially after they've been submitted. The "no referring sitemap detected" message suggests Google might not be seeing your sitemap properly, which can affect indexing.

Make sure your sitemap is submitted in Google Search Console and your robots.txt file isn't blocking anything. Also, check if your posts are set to "noindex" by mistake.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you want help checking anything.

You should set up and submit your website on Google Search Console and apply interlinking in your website. This will help crawlers to crawl your website easily. For the Indexing part, you should check the content on your website, ensure your content is original and not copied from any other source. Also, ensure that you do some value addition in the lives of your visitors. Value addition will encourage Google to add info to its existing database by indexing your website.

Hm... sounds like google isn't indexing your site because it can't find your sitemap, make sure your sitemap is listed correctly in your robots.txt file and that the link works, you can also check individual pages using google's URL Inspection tool to see if they're crawlable. Look out for any noindex tags or server settings that might block Googlebot.Strengthening your internal links can help Google discover more of your content.Yeah, social shares are good for visibility, but they don't directly impact indexing, focus on the technical setup first
