Worth the money maintaining a blog site?

Hey everyone.

Have a quick question. I have a blog on wordpress which I have been posting on for 2 years now. I have about 15 articles. I have 1.5k views in that period.

First question: is that a good result?
Second question, is it worth the money to have this blog? I pay 300$ per year for the hosting. So far no one has contacted me asking for help.

I am starting to post videos on social media and will mention my blog whenever I can so ppl are aware of it. It has some good info and shows I know what i am talking about which leads to more trust. But right now it seems hard to justify spending money on it if I am not making money from it. Social media on the other hand is free. I think I need to post more social media videos over the next few months so ppl are aware of me.

Let me know your thoughts, I would be happy to hear them.

~$300/year seems excessive given the lack of leads and low traffic; for the time being, think about less expensive hosting and concentrate more on social media growth.

Yeah I'm thinking more social media too. At least a video a week which is enough as I edit, gym myself, work part time.

Only you can determine whether it's worth it.

Typically, as internet marketers, the goal is to make money with
whatever business we set up online.

Have you monetized with anything besides waiting for people to
    contact you.

If that is supposed to be a personal training or self-improvement
blog, are you putting actual marketing information and methods
to give people a reason to contact you.

People aren't going to contact you just because you published
    some articles on a blog.

It's great that you are making YouTubes but these days you have
to do so much more than a single blog and some videos.

Posting random videos to social media hoping that people notice
you is not a good strategy either.

I think you probably need to brush up on your internet marketing
skills if you plan to make money online with your blog.

This is business, and you need to learn and work on it like you
would if you were operating any other business.

Keep at it and don't give up, all of this takes time.

Right now I don't think it is worth the money. But it was a lot of work to put the articles together. Maybe I need to improve my SEO as I probably can improve in this area so more ppl see my blog.

I ama strength/fitness coach. On each article I have my social media handles and a slot they can enter their email to receive updates. I also have a contact me page. I also have CTA's in 1 or 2 articles. But thats it for the blog.

As for social media, I have the link to my blog in my bio and say who I am and DM me for more info. But that's it.

Do you recommend any digital marketing courses or articles? Free would be better. I am following some of Alex Hormozi's free stuff and things I have picked up working as an appointment setter.

SEO is not the problem. You are failing to realize that there
are MILLIONS of blogs out there.

        JUST. LIKE. YOURS.

Even if you have perfect SEO that doesn't mean you will get
traffic and people wanting to do business with you.

Another thing, you need to learn how to set up basic HTML
websites. As long as you use WP, you are going to overpay
        for hosting.

Learn how to use A.I. to develop your websites and hosting
        won't cost nearly as much.

        "Free would be better."

That's yet another problem. People want to make money
but refuse to invest any money on learning.

Yes, you can learn things for free but sometimes you have
to spend money because people with real knowledge are
not going to drop it on you for free.

Did you know that there are whole college courses about
subjects such as BLOGGING and YOUTUBE???

Continue reading Hormozi, that might help you, and read
what I already wrote, because there's not much more to
add to this conversation but I wish you all the best.

          Thanks Monitize.

Yeah Ill look into changing my site to a html one and transfer my blog articles to it. As well as the other things you mentioned.

Once I have some more money I would not mind spending some on learning new things.

            That's great Jack.

Don't put off your learning, you can find free Kindle/ebooks on Amazon.

You don't need any special equipment to read those either.

I learned the basics of HTML years ago at HTMLGoodies.com.

These days you can use A.I. tools to write all the code and content but
it still helps to know the basics of domain name redirect, hosting, etc.

I highly recommend that you look into affiliate marketing so that you
can monetize your sites with products compatible to your content.

I don't know the level of service you are getting from your hosting provider and I don't know who your provider is .

Secondly ; I would have to analyze what you are doing before I can give you a detailed solution.

    [QUOTE=jacktravers;11831111]Hey everyone.

Have a quick question. I have a blog on wordpress which I have been posting on for 2 years now. I have about 15 articles. I have 1.5k views in that period.

Second question, is it worth the money to have this blog? I pay 300$ per year for the hosting.

/QUOTE] Have you looked at alternative hosting prices Hostgator has packages for WP for $15.00 a month and business plans for $20.00 or Bluehost has pricing for $ 4.00 and a business plan for $6.45 a month. It may be different where you are located. However, three hundred sounds to be on the high side.

On another note, you should try posting at least one article at least once a month or more. In two years, you will have 36 posts, already more than double your current count.

Here are links to Hostgator - https://www.hostgator.com/managed-wordpress-hosting
    and Blue host - https://www.bluehost.com/

Hosting plans (Edited by Moderator) can be quite right for you as their plans are full-featured and low cost.
Just check out their plans and choose the best one for your needs.

1.5k views with 15 posts isn't bad, but it's definitely a slow growth curve. $300/yr is a bit steep unless you're using premium hosting features. If you're not monetizing yet, I'd either switch to a cheaper host or focus on building traffic first through your social media strategy. Posting more consistently and linking back from your socials could really help build momentum.

spending 300 dollars a year when you've barely gotten any traction just feels not so cool... The blog isn't useless though,it still has the power to build trust and show people who you are,it's just that right now,it's costing too much for where you're at.You don't have to give up on it,just move it somewhere cheaper, like Hostinger or SiteGround, where it'll cost you less than 5 dollars a month.Keep it alive, but shift your energy to social media, that's where people are, share little things,be real, and gently guide folks to your blog when it makes sense.Let the blog be there for when people want to go deeper, but don't let it drain your time or money bro

Well i dont think you should invest money into it as you already pay 300 yearly for hosting

Work with no investment and if it bring you sales then you can use paid traffic to scale your traffic ,sales etc

Also in my case i would never depend on just a traffic source and seo especialy as google give so many updates

I heard people having thousands of visits daily to their site ,after an update they get only few views daily

I pay $9.88 with namecheap which is US dollars.

Then you convert it to Canadian funds.......it is about $14,

So $14CDN times 12 months= Close to $170 per year.

    I think $300 is a little much.

Getting 1.5K views in 2 years with only 15 articles is not a bad start.
You need to focus on monetization (ads, affiliate links, services) or cut costs (cheaper hosting).
The main thing is that consistent posting on both social and blog platforms will help you a lot.

Try and reduce your cost, $300 per year for hosting seems expensive for a blogging site. Keyword research is very important step in blogging. You need to find the topics people are searching for and write articles on those. SEO too is important to rank those articles. You can learn all these steps searching on youtube.

if the goal is trust and visibility, your instinct about connecting social media to your blog makes sense. you could also flip it. use your blog as a home base where everything you post elsewhere leads back to one place that represents you.

if the $300 feels steep, you could move it to a cheaper setup to keep it running without the heavy cost.
