i believe blogging can be used for a wide array of purposes. the answer to your question lies in the purpose of what you are looking for. are you looking to monetize your traffic through adsense? affiliate products? or do you have your own products? blogs can be used as a landing page or to increase backlinks to your main website. there are so many angles to this.. basically having a passion for what you write keeps you motivated in the short run, you have to ensure that the market you are entering is profitable as well.

I wrote a blog post about monetization strategies for blog farms, but it really works for all blogs.

I use a variety of methods when promoting sites, but one area I've never really explored is blog commenting. I'm interested in it but would like to know if it has worked or what are the results of it.

Would you say blogging is a must?

Blogging is definitely a must in my world! It is the only way I have made some decent money.

If i'm writing around an affiliate product, I make sure to make the whole blog around that affiliate. I find this works best, that way every link that is clicked on takes the visitor to the affiliate to complete a sale.

If u wanna increase traffic, try using facebook and creating a group!

As far as I remember, blogging originated from online diaries and journal sites before, wherein that time bloggers mainly write about their own day-to-day stories (as what we normally write in our diary).

It was only when blogging become a "corporate"/"marketing" thing when SEO was born and the Internet became one of the most important, cheap tools to market products and services.

So much for the into (lol), my point is- there is nothing wrong about writing what you want. Writing is not just about "information". It is also an art and probably one of the best ways to express who you are and how you feel.
