Marketers are marketers. They’re job, is to well, to market. This is just the way it is. And they’re end goal, is and probably always will be to make money…

Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just no wonder why you see the same things over and over; including but not limited to:

* Similar salespages
* Optin pages
* Autoresponder messages
* Long winded words that mean nothing
* Solutions to common problems
* And so on.

I’d like to dissect some of these pieces and explain why you see the same things from almost every marketer you know, and how you can capitalize on them.

Corny Salespages and Problem Solving

It seems that it used to be about selling your item. You create a value product, create a salespage that defines what exactly your product or service can do, and you promote that sucker.

Not it’s about flashy graphics, amazing videos and crushing the viewer with gobs and gobs of text. Sure, I think you should explain your product or service, and if it requires it, then simply make a long page salesletter.

But if you’re just after conversions, then by all means – add more stuff.

When did it become the norm to NOT say what your product is about, or to just simply promise financial freedom and nothing else?

I get this angle, really I do. It’s powerful and it will most likely work until the end of time.

It just seems that this is the only angle that anyone ever wants to chase anymore these days, ya know? There are lots of problems in the world, isn’t there something else you could sell to solve these problems?

If you said no, then continue to sell your “make money online” products, and have fun with that.

Trust me, when that’s all you sell, it takes a LOT of selling. To be honest, pretty much every niche outside of MMO requires less promotion.

Just remember the acronym KISS – Keep it Simple Stupid. Regardless of whether you have your own product, or benefit – promote the heck out of those benefits. List them out, and expand on each one. Explain how the product or service can solve the problems your potential customer has.

Graphics and stuff are nice, and make the site look good, but I’ve seen many successful people just go the simple route, using only a white background/theme, creating a few images and actually increasing conversions because of the decrease in distractions. It doesn’t need to win the any fashion awards, you just want to make money, right?

Squeeze Pages and Autoresponders

You can’t tun without hearing about how you need squeeze/optin pages. And I actually agree – to an extent.

See, my first year online, I didn’t have an autoresponder, and I made thousands. But had I used one, I could have probably made more money down the line.

Once you lose a customer without catching their name and email, they’re gone for good.

Squeeze pages are definitely a good idea, regardless of the niche itself, really. I think that they should be setup, but I don’t think they need to be overly complicated. You don’t need 60 optin boxes, nor do you need to obsess about whether or not to put the “spam policy” thingy on the page or not.

Here’s a simple design:

Create a simple headline at top with a clear call to action.

Then put your text on the left side, which simply tells the user what they’ll get by signing up. On the right side, a picture (or video) with the optin box underneath it.

It really is that simple.

Here are a few other tips:

- Use the word free at least 2 or 3 times. Once in your header, and once in the text. You can also use it in the picture or video.

- Be sure to list or explicitly point out the benefits of why they need to sign up. Scarcity is good, as are motivational triggers.

- Arrows are also good. Subtle arrows are good, but if you have to, make a point. You want the viewer to know EXACTLY where they gotta go. Chevrons also work well too. They are these symbols “>>>”

Actually Winning in the IM Game

If you’re goal is to market products to other marketers, you need to be smart. Don’t do what everyone else is doing, just because they’re doing it…

Step out, be your own person and just make some frickin’ money already. Seriously.

Be upfront with people, but be persuasive. I see more and more people trying to hide what their product or service is just because they want to make a few more bucks. It’s kinda lame really.

If you have a good quality product, you wouldn’t need to do that, would you?

People don’t like “marketers” but they do like entertainers. So entertain people. Suck them in with a good headline, a few pics and /or videos, and feed them a long the way. NO need for “fat.”

Regardless, if you want to succeed in this game, you need to be better than your competition. Not smarter, just better. Produce better content and it’s easier to sell. Produce better pages to the SERPs, and you just might rank higher.

I know it’s counter-intuitive, but just do it.

You might be surprised with the results ;-)
