Facebook is a social networking system that allows members to generate a user profile, post pictures, post information and keep in touch with friends and family. There's no cost to join Facebook and members must be at least 13 years of age. There is no maximum age for Facebook members. Members are able to create pages for their business, organization and also fan pages.

Facebook has developed into a very popular place to showcase a business, web page, services and products and even yourself. There are roughly half a billion Facebook users and that's more than a significant target audience for anyone. Facebook marketing has become another strategy for internet marketers to use to advertise and market an organization, service or product.

The first step in Facebook marketing is to establish your user profile. Your user profile will allow other people to interact with you on a personal level. If it's a business, other people will feel like it is really a local business even if it is half way around the world. Always add a photograph to your user profile. Visitors need to know there's a real person behind this business. That gives the business warmth and character along with a bit of personality.

Make sure your wall includes solely pertinent information. Be respectful whenever you post anything or comment on another person’s post and simply post things which are relevant to your own subject material. Remember that anything you post and send away into cyber space today, will remain there forever.

In the information portion of your Facebook page is where the real Facebook marketing occurs. Note your business web address and proper business contact. For those who have a traditional shop as well, put in the address so people where you live may stop by.

When advertising for your business, always note that you can be found on Facebook. For those who have a business website, add your Facebook link. If you market in print media, add your Facebook name so others can look you up on Facebook.

Compensate your Facebook followers by awarding them with badges and commendations. Maybe post a quiz once in a while and the first person to post the right response receives a special badge.

Facebook marketing is all about having your information in front of the largest amount of people as you possibly can. The greater number of friends you have, the more friends of friends will see your information or remark and decide to become Facebook friends.
