As more and more material is published on the Kindle, getting found, and selling ebooks, is corresponding difficult. Some authors are banding together to create collaborative websites for promotion.

I wrote about this Kindle trend on my Creativity Factory blog. I think it's a great idea for authors to club together.

However, looking at the Rock It Reads site gave me another idea: this is a great opportunity for marketers.

You know how to create websites. Create a simple WordPress blog, with pages to promote authors. Add each author as a contributor to the blog, and they can post their own news and updates. (Or you can do it for them.)

Keep the number of authors for each blog small -- around five.

You can promote the website with SEO, articles, press releases etc, and can get links.

Writers are lousy marketers. (I'm allowed to say that because I'm a writer. :-))

If you were to create a site with five slots, and offer writers ongoing Web promotion for a fee (say $50 per author per month), you'd get takers. $250 per site isn't much, but if you had ten of these sites, you'd be making $2,500 a month gross.

Outsource the promotion for $1,000, and you'd clear at least $1,500 per month. You wouldn't need to spend much time on maintaining the business; just a couple of hours a week to stay abreast of the sites and the outsourcers you hire.

If you like this idea, and set up one of these sites, let me know. I think it's an idea which would help Kindle authors, many of whom are totally at sea when it comes to marketing and promotion.
