I've never really been a Microsoft fan, in fact I've hated them ever since the early browser wars and when they destroyed my favorite up and coming operating system the 'BeOS'. My loathe for them probably peaked somewhere around 10 years ago. Today Microsoft has a lot more competition from Apple and Google. You see, I like competition. Unlike John D Rockefeller who stated, "Competition is a sin". Yep, I like to see a hard working Microsoft trying to please fickle customers.

All eyes have been on Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) over the years, and I recognize their massive gains and great products. In fact I wanted to buy their stock as soon as OSX came out. I was thrilled that you could have Unix and Adobe photo shop on the same computer. I thought it was the best thing in the world, and I had no idea how popular the iPods were going to be. I was around 23 years old and Apple's stock was around $12 a share. I would have had over a 5,600%% gain while collecting an effective yield of 88% each year!

But of course I was a dumb kid, who instead saw that it was more important going out after work with friends and drinking at clubs. Don't make that mistake!
