Hi, my name is Dave Lynch. It's been a while since I've been truly active on the forum. That's because I quit buying into all the WSO mindset of staying trapped in the "learning" mindset to put on my big boy pants and go out and actually learn by doing.
I learned enough to qualify for a digital marketing degree course which I am doing at the moment. So I thought I'd return to blog a bit more here.
Social media is still part of what I do, but in the broader scheme of things my skill sets revolve around freelance writing, social media, copywriting and SEO.
I self publish under different names on Kindle. Mainly I write, but guess what: writing is marketing and vice versa! What would the web be without text - and persuasive text at that.

Free Autoresponder Software: Why I ditched Mailchimp for MailerLite

Free autoresponders are the topic of much debate, particularly here on the forum where many of us started out on our journey to an online business. A good autoresponder is one of the cornerstones of our marketing campaign - particularly since email rROI is typically greater than all other marjeting ROI put together! (Source: my diploma course in digital marketing from the DMI - Digital Marketing Institute, here in Ireland).
I have been a big fan of Mailchimp. They even sent me a great pair of socks last Christmas as a gift. But then I was introduced to MailerLite...
Here's why I immediately switched.
Mailchimp allows 2,000 subscribers for free and their delivery rates are very high. That's awesome.
But - they don't truly offer an autoresponder for their free tier. Sure, you can send your subscriber to a particular page when they opt in, but that's as far as it goes. There's no follow up sequence possible. The follow up sequence is where you make your passive income, so it's far from an ideal solution.
My list is small, so I chose a paid membership. Mailchimp's cheapest was for $10 per month, which was upped to $15 not so long ago.
Compare this to MailerLite.
The first 1,000 subscribers are free.
But - that includes a full autoresponder service, so you can set up your email sequence to maximize your profits and deliver an A-grade email marketing campaign for free while you build your business.
I signed up for their paid offer which was $10 a month at the time (only a few days ago) but that may have risen since then. If you can afford to pay the monthly fee, do so to lock in your deal in case of future updates.
Here's a couple of other factors that tips the balance in favor of MailerLite:
You can use the HTML form code to use with WP Optin Boxes Pro, which creates awesome opt-in forms.
Unlike Mailchimp where you have to log out and enter all your details all over again for every website/list you want to use, MailerLite allows you click a button and with a bare minimum of info add an extra site/list to your dashboard. You can switch from account to account at the press of a button.
I'm not putting Mailchimp down. I was happy with them for a long time, but MailerLite are literally a no-brainer. Not only the best free autoresponder software in terms of features, but it is stylish and easy to use.
