Ecommerce offers have become crazily competitive and overcrowded

I saw a suggestion that ecommerce is one of the "hottest" areas for internet marketers.

That may be so, but I think it's also one of the most crowded and competitive.

Every online marketer I know, myself included, have seen a bazillion promotions show up in email and on Facebook for the past 24 months.

Everything from a hundred different 'sure-thing' Amazon FBA courses, apps, tools, and coaching, to a few hundred Shopify courses, apps, tools, and coaching.

Ecommerce has literally exploded over the past few years, and we all know that any business model or opportunity with upwards-trending growth quickly becomes fodder for IM'ers.

The problem is two-fold:

First, many - and more likely most - of these tools, courses, etc., aren't any good. They won't do what they promise: make you rich or give you the keys to the business model.

That's because a) they were created entirely to take advantage of the buzz, b) by people who haven't succeeded with the business model, either independently or with their offering.

Second, the first problem becomes compounded by the fact that few people who buy into these 'get wealthy quick' schemes ever follow them through.

Having said all that, I actually do believe there is tremendous opportunity to take advantage of the meteoric rise of ecommerce marketing.

But I agree with IM'er I referenced up top: the real play is figuring out how to help people going into ecommerce, not in getting people into ecommerce.

And most importantly, that said opportunity is only viable IF you can LEGITIMATELY help that group.

It will be interesting to see where all this goes. I don't think anyone doubts that e-commerce is not only here to stay, but will increasingly become a cornerstone of the word's economy.
