I really enjoyed your article and your blog @ msmm.com is really great. It looks like you are using the same blog theme I am on my new blog for new bloggers. I might have to change that, just to stay unique... of course.

One thing i would like to mention is on the add swaps there are many new plug ins that are advailable for word press that will allow you to do this. I particularly like ultimate footer ads. they are non-intrusive. But there is a small fee and you might have to have a coder install it for you.
