The Power of What You Believe
What we look at, and how we look at life, is critical to developing correct beliefs and their subsequent actions. Your observation about what you see trigger your belief. That which you continually look at and talk about, you will most often receive. If you focus your observations on what you can't do and how you are not very good at doing it, your should not be surprised when this self-fulling prophesy comes true.

"People usually see what they are looking for and hear what they are listening for."
Harper Lee
I'm sure you have heard of RAS (Reticular Activating System). Our brains contain a reticular activating system which causes us to react very selectively to certain classes of stimuli. For example say you just bought yourself a brand new blue Nissian Maxima. All of a sudden you are seeing that same blue Nissian Maxima everywhere. That is because our RAS crates this subconscious priority of focus.
You can deliberately program your RAS by choosing the exact messages you send from you conscious mind. Your RAS cannot distinguish between real events and synthetic reality. In other words it tends to believe whatever message you give it. That is why it is so important on how you believe in yourself.
The Power of Belief

Never underestimate the power of belief when it comes to fulfilling your dreams. I can say with no hesitation that every person I've ever met who has achieved any degree of success has had one thing in common: they believed with all their heart that they could do it.
Self-Belief

Self-belief is what we call sef-confidence.
"If you have no confidence, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started."
Marcus Tullius Cisero
"Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality."
Ralph Marsto
Believing is critical to confidence, and confidence essential to individual and team success. When we believe the worst will happen, it often does.
I would like to end with this poem.
The Man Who Thinks He Can

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t
it’s almost certain you won’t
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will-
It’s all a state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks HE CAN.
