Answer To Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom

I don't live in Indiana and as such have no dog in this race; however, as an entrepreneur I do have an answer to the Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom that so many are calling discriminatory.

I may be misinterpreting what the news is relating regarding the new Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom that says that business owners have the right to not serve people if they feel that it is against their religious beliefs to do so. To me this never needed to be a law it is written in our constitution.
It is the inherent right of any business owner to serve the population that he/she wants to serve.
I don't make my decisions about my business based on religion, color, sex, or any personal attribute to a person. Why? Because I don't have any strong fundamental belief that says that I should.
This doesn't mean that I don't believe that I have the right to refuse service to someone.
The new Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom , from my understanding, says that if you have a fundamental religious belief about a group of individuals you have the right to hold to your standards and refuse service to those individuals.
Integrity and The Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom
One of the most important characteristics of a leader is that of integrity.
It is one of the most misinterpreted terms there is out there. What it essentially says is that you are not divided in your beliefs and your actions.
If your religious beliefs are such that you do not believe in same sex marriage, it would be a denial of your faith to serve as a functionary, of any sort, at a gay wedding. If you do it, then you are not only breaking with your own integrity, you are doing a disservice to the couple getting married.
If you hold that the concept should be over-ruled, I want to know if you feel that should the KKK come into your shop and request, let's say a cake, with their hate filled message emblazoned upon it, should you be compelled by law to make the cake even though your fundamental beliefs are the total opposite?
Many people have many different beliefs. It is what has made this country great. We have to allow that another may or may not be comfortable with who we are. Believe it or not there are people out there that don't like me and don't want to spend time with me. That's okay. That's their opinion and they are welcome to it. I'll move along to be with people who believe as I do so that I don't feel uncomfortable.
Is it hate to stay connected to your values? Is it hate to honor your religious convictions? or Is it hateful to make others believe as you do and force them into situations where they aren't comfortable or even feel condemned?
Entrepreneurship
One of the reasons that many take on the mantle of entrepreneurship is because they want to build a business that represents who they are and what they believe in.
It is the individual business owners who put their money on the line. If something goes wrong in their business, they are the ones that are going to end up filing for bankruptcy.
They put in their time and their effort to build their business in an image that they believe in and that is their right.
We give a lot of lip service to the idea of religious freedom in this country but we don't want to have people actually exercise that right. The new Indiana State Law on Religious Belief says that they support that freedom.
The new Indiana State Law on Religious Freedom says that if it is against your religious belief to not serve a section of the community you have the right to refuse service. As an entrepreneur, you have put everything that you have on the line to create a business that reflects you and you should have the right to run your business with integrity.
