Are You Too Busy?

I was once a math teacher in a high school in my country. I worked in a boarding school. I have seen parents who have abandoned their children in the boarding school because they are so busy. They run after contract and business deals and forget totally about the well being of their children in the school.

Some of them have even said to our hearings (teachers) that they don’t have the time and that was the major reason why they brought the child to the boarding school in the first place.

This act can go a long way to destroy the confidence your wards or children have in you. There is no amount of care the school can give to your child. You are very important to your child’s happiness.

Even if your child is in the boarding school, you can show to him or her that you care by making sure you are always present during open days, visiting days and some other days that require your presence in the school.

Don’t get too busy with your work and forget the fact that your child needs you around sometimes or even most times.

Don’t be like Joseph and Mary in the Bible who got so busy with festivities and forgot that 12-year old Jesus was missing as they travel back. Young Jesus was missing for one day before they found out! (Luke 2:43 and 44).

As a foster parent, I have had over 250 children in my home during their times of crisis. If parents would only devote a major part of their day to their child, children would grow up to be productive, healthy adults. The rewards of raising children involve our sacrifice today. Thanks for this great reminder of just how important the kids are! MarsiueWrites www.partnershipinparenting.com
