I try to be a good member of the community here and as such, I do take my member moderator status seriously. I believe that if we want to keep this a valuable place to hang out then we are all responsible for keeping it so.

There are two ways to moderate a post here. One is to report it, which brings it to the attention of the mods or if a bunch of people report it, can whisk the offending post out of sight until a mod has a chance to look it over.

The other way to moderate a post is to issue an infraction. Infractions don't really mean anything beyond a "psst...you shouldn't do this and this is why". It's like poking someone. I only use infractions for pointing out a signature violation as I figure it's possible the person misinterpreted or forgot the rule.

When I issue an infraction, I always state why and link to the rules. Most people, if they say anything at all, will thank me for pointing out their mistake before an official mod comes along and turns off their signature.

Some however, blow an infraction all out of proportion.

Earlier I gave an infraction to someone like this. He called me arrogant, said I was rude and told me he hated me. And when I made the mistake of trying to explain that infractions were not a big deal, he got even worse.

HUH??

Okay. This industry does take all kinds, I suppose. Bound to be a few that are wound just a tad too tight, right?

    Tina,

Whoever you issued an infraction to had better not be pm'ing you being mean!

Infractions are meant to serve as a guideline that hey you are stepping off the path it is this way.

No biggie always good to heed them if they are warranted. I am not talking about people just doing it out of childishness. but.. if you do something like spam a thread, are rude being blatantly self promotional by starting a thread with the "solution" pointing in your sig.etc you deserve to get that infraction and that young man needs to wake up and get some serious handles on life

    Hi, Tina:

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I appreciate and value your perspective on the issue in general and on the particular incident you just mentioned.

A week or two ago, one of my Warrior Forum blog posts was removed and my first reaction was to be offended. But then I remembered something in the WF faqs that said, "Don't take it personal!" lol

I have realized that if any of our posts are removed or infracted, then something was not right with it and in addition to not taking it personal, we should also appreciate the moderators and members who are just trying to keep this place as professional as possible. After all, it's to everybody's benefit.

    Thanks for your diligence!
