With photoshop. :-)
Seriously, I design my artwork (or have it designed) as a flat cover and then run it through:
Quick 3D Cover - Home (boxshots, e-books covers, CD Jewel cases, DVD-cases, templates).
It's $50.00 USD but well worth it in the long run and is very easy to learn.
Others may have different, less expensive ideas, but that's what do.Posted 12th January 2009 at 09:17 AM by scott_krech

Hi Magentaz,
First of all, let me say that you would probably get more replies to your question in the Main Warrior Forum rather than on your Warrior Blog. Well, at least if you want more than just a couple replies that is.
Next, we need to know what kind of graphic applications do you have to work with?
Making an attractive eCover can be done in a number of different applications but I would say that the most popular program for this is Adobe Photoshop. And the EASIEST/FASTEST way to get professional images is to shell out the cash for some Adobe Photoshop Action Scripts.
But don't worry, I'm here to help!
Lets assume you don't have anything other than mspaint.
Lets also assume you need to do this on a $0 dollar budget.
In that case, your best bet would be to head on over to Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing and get this professional freeware which is comparable to Photoshop!
Alternatively, you can download it directly here:
http://www.dotpdn.com/files/Paint.NET.3.36.zip
Feel free to read up on it. Or if you like to dig right let me send you a few useful links:
Here's an awesome tutorial for you to get you going.
Paint.NET • View topic - Let's Make a Software Box
Just so you know, while your going through the tutorial you'll need to know how to deselect objects. The shortcut key is Ctrl+D.
Also if you use the .pdn files provided, you may need to merge the layers.
Or just create your own front and side and then follow the tutorial.
Either way, this may work for you.
You can also check out the rest of their forum and find a ton of tutorials and plugins at:
Paint.NET • Index page
And one more link that I think you might like.
Paint.NET • View topic - The #1 Most Copied Sig On The Forum (AKA the pyrosig)
Hope this helps.
