A Newbie's Tale: The Frustrated Rookie

I am a newbie. I don't intend on being one forever but for right now everything other than writing seems so complicated.
I spent 5 hours or more trying to get my first wordpress installed to my first website. I still haven't gotten it right and I still have that page the hosting service puts up. Ugh....I just can't get it figured out.
Now that may make most of you more seasoned people laugh and scratch your head saying "what's so difficult about that?" but the truth is right now it is difficult. I do know that something at some point is going to click. I just have to find that switch. I am confident that I will.
I watch a lot of American Football, probably too much, and one thing that is really interesting is watching new guys, the rookies, finally catch on. It will be obvious that while they may have played for a long time once they reach the NFL it is on a much higher level and they have trouble adjusting. Everyone hits a lot harder and everything moves so quickly and there are much bigger playbooks and so much to remember.
What is fun to watch is when you can see them flip that switch and they become really good. One thing you will hear them say is that "the game just got slower" for them. The game doesn't actually slow down but in their heads they are able to see everything more clearly and aren't constantly blown away by everything. They see opportunities they never saw before and have a new confidence in their abilities. It takes hard work to get there but when they do....watch out!
Not everyone makes the adjustment, though. There have been many who were stars in college who won the most prestigious award that any college player could win, the coveted Heisman Trophy, who went on to achieve nothing in the pros. They just couldn't make that transition. A lot of the time the adjustment can't be made because they relied too much on prior accomplishments. They got lazy and didn't work out enough, didn't study their playbooks enough, and didn't watch enough film. They ceased growing and they stayed tied to the ground while others who worked their butts off and grew found the sky was the limit.
What you have done prior to this matters some but what matter the most is what you do right now. The attitude to grow, to constantly learn and try new things, will bring success. You learn to develop your strengths and eliminate your weaknesses. If you want to grow as a player in sports or IM or any other arena you have to start at the bottom and fight your way up. The ones who keep fighting are the ones who find their way to the top. You may reach a point where the game moves slower for you but you will be successful if you use that to your advantage.
Right now everything seems really fast and difficult. It's all pretty intimidating but I know it won't stay that way. I intend to be at the top. I just got to find that switch. I'm pretty sure it's around here somewhere.
