For many the idea of creating a business or a passive income from the internet is extremely appealing however more now than ever budgets are tight. Top it off with the fact that many products created specifically for internet marketers are exorbitantly expensive and it’s enough to change even the most motivated would be entrepreneur. Here’s the good news, you can create a nice internet marketing income on a limited budget. Here’s how:

Research a few interesting niches with free keyword tools. Researching your market must be your fist step. To skip this step and you can end up with a business which makes little or no income. Google offers great keyword research tools and WordTracker offers a free trial for their keyword research tools.

Consider affiliate marketing or an information website. Why? You don’t need to invest in creating a product. Affiliate marketing is built upon the model which pre-sells products. You typically make money based on referrals or sales. For example, let’s say someone chooses to create a website based on organic pet care. On this website they could review organic products, post banner ads for products, and provide a lot of information about pet care. Much of the content provided will include links to various affiliate products. When a visitor reads the content and then clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you get a percentage of the profits.

An information based website works much the same way however the majority of the profits are made from advertising revenue.

Register your domain with a low cost provider that offers the features you need. Competition is fierce among website hosts. With a little research you can find a great host for a good price.

Use a WordPress blog to build your website. Why? WordPress is infinitely customizable and downloading the software is free. There’s a nominal cost to redirect to a website, $10. Head to wordpress.com, create an account and download the software.

For any internet marketing venture content is the key to driving traffic and ultimately profits. Therefore creating content can be a hurdle for those with limited time and a limited budget. There are several options. One is to write the content yourself. If you’re using a blog based website format then that means a post a day and an occasional report. It may also mean an article marketing campaign depending on your marketing strategy.

Another option is to purchase PLR or Private Label Rights content. This content can be rewritten or published as is. You can also hire a ghostwriter and can find competent freelance writers with reasonable prices at many of the freelance websites.

Partnerships are also a fantastic tool to keep the budget in line. Trading services or cross promoting websites is a great way to maximize your resources.

We are all aware of the need to find ways to save money or to live more cheaply which is one of the reasons that I put the resource at Ways To Save Money Today | Survive Economic Recession together to help people. However, creating an online business on a budget can and does happen every day. Take the time to research and create a strategy then get started making money. You can do it!
