My name is David Beroff, and my long-term goal is the development of a new social media site called AboutTh.is. A year ago, I cut my day-job hours in half so as to have more time to focus on self-employment. Since it will be quite a while before AboutTh.is will be in a position to earn me a full-time income, I've been finding various projects to help cover my day-to-day expenses.
One of the gigs that I found was thanks to a fellow Warrior. In January, he introduced me to the owner of an investment club who was looking for a back-end website to help manage his business. At the time, he was handling everything manually, with dozens of spreadsheets, and he asked me if I could move everything to a private database, so as to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy. I told him I'd be happy to help him, for a small fee, of course.
As I started to design and populate the MySQL database, I noticed something rather curious: Every single member of this investment club was earning somewhere around 2% every month. Now I realize that 2% probably doesn't sound too exciting to the "Make Impossibly Insane Amounts of Money with my $7 WSO" crowd, but let's think about this for a moment:
If you're making about 2% per month, then in twelve months, that works out to a 24% APR. With monthly compounding, that's 26.8% APY. When you keep doing that, you can actually double your money every three years. (And if you're really patient, ten doublings multiply your money by a thousand-fold; a thousand dollars could turn into a million.)
Furthermore, this is actually passive income; none of the investment club members have to work at the business, unless they choose to do so. I realized that this dovetails very nicely with a lot of the Internet Marketing opportunities here on the Warrior Forum, since people can make money with WSO's and the like, and then go ahead and double that money.
Just as one example, in July, the club paid out $72,452 on a pooled $3,508,286 investment. That's 2.07% in one month, or 24.8% APR and 27.8% APY. At that rate, the club's $3.5M will double every three years!
