Attitude of Gratitude
Attitude of Gratitude.Have you ever noticed complaining people that come to you for help, yet you conclude that they really didnât want your help after all?
Zig Ziglar will tell you whyâŚ.

Zig Ziglar
âPeople love to complain.â
Why?
Why would a person who says, âI want help,â or âHelp me,â reject the very help they were seeking? You give them an objective answer to help them, and then they brush over it, and never heed your advice.
It makes you wonder why they even came to you for help in the first place. They find fault with your advice or continue to complain, âYes, but you donât understand; that wonât help me in my circumstances.â
They donât take your advice, and before long you find them talking to someone else about the same problems, whining, and complaining.
The reason they are ignoring your help has nothing to do with you. It is about them. Actually, it is ALL about them. They love the attention. The more attention they get, the better they feel in their misery.
It is called âattention-seeking behavior.â
The complainer LIKES to complain. It makes them feel better to be in their misery, and to have your attention. It does seem like a contradiction to be sure.
If they didnât complain, they would have nothing to talk about. They would miss feeling important, and receiving their much craved attention.
Over time, the continual complaining becomes a part of their identity.
They donât realize that they need an âattitude adjustment, or âattitude of gratitude.â
Rather than finding fault, complaining, and seeking attention, they have lost track of the how good they do have it.
Zig Ziglar, salesman, and motivational speaker, gives a perfect example of how in âAttitude Makes All the Difference.â (Link in bio. for more information)
If you find yourself looking at everything with a cloud, unhappy with life and your circumstances, or complaining habitually to the point where you donât even like yourself anymore, have an 'attitude of gratitude' adjustment.
Use the self-cure method that Zig Ziglar shares; take out a sheet of paper and begin to write down what you are thankful for, as well as the things you like or love. Take a good look into the mirror⌠and be honest with yourself.
Look into the âwindows of your soulâ and say out loud in the mirror to yourself what you are thankful for.
Do you know what the problem usually is?
We have it too good, and we donât know it. We take things for granted. You never know how good you have it, until you have something taken away from you.
That something could be a loved one, a friendship, your job, good healthâŚ
Take today to stop and be honest with yourself. Your outlook, happiness and frame of mind in life is dependent on your attitude and the way you perceive something.
Have you been surrounded by negativity? Has your past life continued to bombard your present life? Have you allowed others negativity to continue to shape your current life?
I donât mean to be cliche when I say âattitude of gratitude,â but I heard a powerful testimony of a woman in sales within our own company who was very unhappy, and admitted to complaining, but was willing to do whatever it took to change the results in her sales.
On a morning call she told her story how she bought herself a journal, and began to write down every day 5 things that she was grateful and thankful for. Five things that made her feel happy when she pondered about them⌠her family, her children, moments she had with them, and daily activities.
Her energy shifted when her thoughts shifted from complaining to that of positive mental attitude, and within weeks she began making sales. The conviction in her voice spoke of her results, and now she encourages everyone to be aware, and know that attitude is everything.
