Here's the Reason That a $60 Logo Design Might Cost You $15,000

For now we'll just say that it doesn't. First, let's kick back and think as if we were one of our own customers. The means removing all the emotional attachments you have to your current logo along with the passion you have for your business. I totally get the fact that you and your significant other love what you have done. However, it's time you faced the hard reality that your current logo design is actually encouraging prospects to shop somewhere else.

After some deep thought we get to the truth. The truth is that, if not for this one element, you would be making a lot more money. A wise man would make a change.

Many times people who have no designing experience will take a stab at it. This is great if no money is riding on it. Still, many small business owners create a design and decide to roll with it, ignorant of the kind of effect it will have on business. They become emotionally attached to it because it relates some feeling they had when they made it.

Once in a while I like to jump on the old Google search engine and have a look around. As I go through the motions I notice that I tend to stay on small business websites that look good, and leave the others quickly. Cheap web design has no power to hold a visitor's attention. Many times designer logos can be the difference in visitors sticking around rather than leaving, and your sales potential stays with them.

That is why I believe that your logo designer will be a tipping point in your success. You can find some fantastic logo designers who are very affordable. A lot of them will charge you less than $500. Anyone who isn't prepared to spend more than $300 on their logo, is just not that serious, or just doesn't fully understand the implications of the power of the logo.

With any small business website, color is a big deal. They have a psychological effect on people. Red will push the brain's hunger buttons, while blue emits trustworthiness. With small business websites the colors should be subtle and not over-complicate the page.

Vector Copies:

Making vector copies of the logo you have designed is important. This will enable you to add it to multiple viewing platforms, in any size, without losing its quality. From small to skyscraper size it will not lose its crispness.

If you have a logo designer that does not make you any vector copies, then you have to ask yourself why. It could be that you hired to wrong designer to handle your account.

A logo has to be catchy and easy to read as well. It should be simple to understand and also grab attention while being glitchy enough to stick in the mind. It needs to stand out. I myself like clipart next to the text. It gives you the power to make a mental connection with your audience. The next time that image appears to them anywhere, they should immediately think of your business, because of the way it was presented to them by you.

Yes, it is totally true that a $50 logo can cost you $20,000 in revenue in a year's time. If you own a small business, then start taking your logo design more seriously, and watch your sales volume rise.
